Hot Rod Power Tour - 2025 ! ! link
It's almost here. Who's going?
Dates and locations:

Team Barely Functional Racing will be there for at least the beginning day in Indianapolis, June 9th. Trying to coordinate the other stops if possible too.
Who else is planning to come out?
Day five, Norwalk Ohio is 20 minutes from my house. I'll be there. Probably join up with my buddy and his 69 firebird
Make note, if the event is it a drag strip, I think you get access to drag passes, with entry fee. But, fort Wayne and Monroe Michigan will just be big parking lots.
We went to the event at National Trail Raceway last year. Lots and lots of neat builds to see. If you're thinking of going and you live between two venues go to the one at a drag strip. There are lots of fast builds to watch go down the strip. Either way, it's a good event.
I'm between-ish IRP and Rt66. Probably should slap something together.

It doesn't get closer to home than these venues, but I just have too much going on. I may try to pop in to IRP day1, but that's all I can hope to try for.
In reply to gumby :
For you or anyone else who is near but maybe can't get out and play during daytime work hours...
The night before one of these events, the hotels near the track/event are packed with cool cars. Every hotel parking lot becomes its own car show. If there is a "main drag" near the event and hotels, like where all the Applebee's, Chili's, etc are, that area will have much cool iron running down the road.
I joined in many years back during a Florida swing with my primered Civic Si. Lots of cool cars.
What time does it "start?" I don't see a timeline looking quickly at the site?
Bump.
We're a little over a week away. Team BFR is bringing two cars out, 1964 Volvo & 2008 Mustang S197 for the Indy date.
Who else is coming ?
Can you just come up to check out the cars? What's it cost? I'm a 15-20 minute drive to Route 66
In reply to Iusedtobefast :
Wait, there's another GRM dude in Lockport? (I'm at 151st/Farrell Road)
I'd go with you but I'll be making sales calls in Detroit that week!
Starting another show call on Monday, and hear there may be heavy overtime. Not looking great right now...

OT, but we should probably have a mini meetup soon at Dellwood Park.

I'll probably run down to Monroe for a bit.
In reply to Russian Warship, Go Berkeley Yourself :
If weather is good I might run the 240Z to the Monday night car show.
My son and I are planning to go spectate at Norwalk on Friday.

Fantastic!
It's been a long time since I went on the Power Tour. I was a long hauler in 2001.
Long haul is way more effort than I can do again, but I'd sure like to stop in at some venues!
Have fun!
In reply to Indy - Guy :
Very cool. It looks like you're fully registered. That should get you a few runs down the drag strip, if you want.
What time did gates open?
I intend to be at Norwalk on Friday with my daughter. We'll likely both be in GRM t-shirts. No car for us, just spectating
Didn't this used to be an across the country tour instead of just a couple of states?

I was thinking of you guys and the trunk lid the other day.
I know that the enamel paints fade with time and UV. If you want to keep it you probably want to encase it in some UV protectant.
HXTAL is a museum grade epoxy that won't yellow with UV exposure and perfectly matches the refraction index of glass. A removable solution is Paraloid B72, be careful what you mix it with though as it can be a solvent for the paints.

Possibly. This is the 31st year for it, so I'm certain it's evolved over time.

Thanks for the tip, it's 100% on our to do list to get it protected.
