Tentatively looking at another used car purchase in the next few months, and thinking I'll be in position to get something i want rather than just something that's cheap. I worked on the S197 program from initial prototypes through MY07 launch, and I really dug them when new. How are they holding up in the real world? And can I get a decent MT car for $7500?
I bought an '05 manual GT new. I've got 125k on it give or take. Daily driver with some autocross and one track day. It's pretty much as solid as day one. I've had to do plugs (which I'm sure you know about), an alternator, ball joints, and had a wiring issue that disabled the HVAC blower but was easy to fix once found. It has survived 3 accidents -
one minor, one slightly less minor, and one pretty serious but still drives great. Other items (brakes, shocks, etc) have been normal wear items. The driver's side thigh bolster on the red leather is pretty hashed but that's probably a result of my extensive use of DEET while mountain biking and then getting right into the car.
It's also one of the easiest cars to work on I've ever had, and that includes old pre-electronic stuff.
my buddy just picked up a manual 06 GT with 140k, besides some over due maintenance that he caught it up on it seems like its still in really decent shape.

If you're using Yahoo email for your PMs it never works. The nice thing is the email that bounces back has the other forum members email inside of it.
At the end of the day, it's the best 'chassis' to be married to the Mustang, although I've yet to drive the latest iteration w/ the IRS. The 3V motors are solid and TONS of aftermarket over and under for them. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a higher mileage example as long as it doesn't look like it's been beat to death and or hit.

I'm still 3 months out but will probably still ask for a bunch of info. I'm not one for mods. Do you have the OE pieces?

Hmm that's a pretty sweet looking Mustang. How much would you be asking and where are you??
