I need to get some electrical items from the pick-n-pull, plus window trim and rubber. It'd be easier if I could sneak in a little battery to make sure E36 M3 works and to test stuff, plus roll the windows down, test the side mirror motors, etc., vs searching the web for pinout info on a 12-pin switch and other time wasters. Suggestions?
Are batteries specifically disallowed at your local junkyard? The only things they frown upon around here are grinders, torches/fire, jacks and generators. These days I always bring an assortment of battery powered cordless tools.
Though, rather than lug around a car battery, I generally use a battery from whatever cordless tools I have to test things. 18v just for a couple seconds to test a window motor or something won't fry it.
A small 12v sealed lead acid battery for a UPS or power wheels toy or similar would work too and be lighter than a full size car battery.
Duh, tool batteries. Long week + gin & tonics = dumb questions...
I brought a jump pack and cordless tools and they didn't bat an eye.
Yeah, jump packs are the de facto standard around here.

14V rechargeable battery from a cordless drill. Light and compact.
When you see your phone or cable guy , ask him if he has any used 12v batteries that they replaced in the house power box ( forgot whats its called ) , its for backup when the power goes off ,
or ask for your house battery to be replaced and keep the old one.....
just looked at battery , its 7ah 12v
