How do you remove the factory stereo in a 11 Chevy van?

I have a brand new 11 Chevy Express 2500 work van, and I was wondering how to remove the stereo. Does one need a special tool to do so?

Does it have two holes, about 11/4" up/down on each end of it? If so, bend a coat hanger into a pair of U's to push in to release clips.

No holes.

Take the bezel/surround off and remove the screws.

I have never done the job but if you look at the bottom of the plastic pictured you will see bolt holes at the botton edge.
My guess is that the lower trim has to come off first before this trim comes off. All in all I be a whole lot has to come off but as commented, once these lowest bolts/screws are removed then from there the whole thing can be pulled away with the popping of pressure clips.

i don't know how integrated the stereo is to the rest of the systems in the van, but i do know that some newer vehicles don't like not having the stock radio not being there..

If it is anything like my wife's Av and similar models, it is just, what I call a friction spring clip. You get behind the bezel and give it a pull and it pops out/off.

Damn, I need to find a factory radio like the one jrw1621 posted to put in my '07 Savanna that has an aux jack so I can use my iPod.

The pic I used came off ebay and I would recommend looking there.

I know my MIL's 08 Impala LTZ has that exact model radio in it.

I don't know if I really want to spend money on a van that isn't mine

My guess is the desire to get rid of a low rent model radio in favor of something better in same factory hole.

You will need the appropriate integration module, dash kit and antenna adaptor. Don't be surprised when the install parts cost as much as a cheap radio...

Pull up the little boot around the shift lever, remove the torx fastener and pull the lever. Pull both the driver and passenger belly pans- should be 10mm's. Unclip the lower steering column cover. There may be some 7mm's up in the gauge hood. Now go for the big yank. You will have to fanangle it around the turn signal stalk, and have to unclip the power ports and tow button etc. If you get sketched out about the turn stalk, you can split the column cover and remove the two screws holding the stalk, and let it dangle, but the key to this install is the pulling the shift lever.

Actually I just want to intercept the antenna cable to integrate my Sirius Sat radio plug and play cradle. I used to have an older model that had a super strong FM transmitter that didn't require this wire to intercept the antenna cable. That one however died many years ago and I got a new one from Sirius, but the FM transmitter is really weak. Turns out the old one was way too strong according to the FCC, and Sirius XM had to make the new ones with a weak ass fm transmitter.

If it's anything like my 2010 Dodge, it takes a window punch, 4 screws, and around 45 seconds...
