So, I need to find a leak in the fuel EVAP system for my M Coupe.

Saw this on amazon:

looks like a "commercialized" version of what some folks have done DIY on Youtube.

My thoughts are: use it to test intake or exhaust system - sure no problem.  Use it to pump smoke into the fuel tank and associated systems...hmmm seems like it should be ok, but I would hate to be wrong about that.

Is this the same basic method the pro systems use to generate smoke - i.e. using an electric element to heat up some type of "wick" soaked in mineral oil?  Seems like it should be all good unless possibly an "ember" from the wick makes it out of this contraption and into EVAP system/tank.

Looks like a low cost smoke machine that cost many thousands of dollars less than a Pro machine. If I did not have access to the one at work I would give it a go.

Ask yourself, "What's the worst that could happen?" laugh
