I plugged the intake manifold exhaust crossover on my BBC today while it was off for a lifter check. I'm tired of sourcing one particular Fel-Pro intake gasket set that works for my setup (plugged crossover), and I have a theory that the blockoff plates make noise. I had a handfull of castoff 5.3 pistons laying around and a real vintage New York, NY-made Farberware Al-Clad pan that was overcooked in the line of duty as a crucible...so I did it the old-school way. The pan was the only real tragedy here. Any guesses how many pistons it drank?

It was about 2 3/4, so I guess A 401 CJ and DrMikeCSI tie for first place. Winner buys the round?

I thought this thread was gonna be about blown engine pieces but this is way cooler!

All the youngsters on here are scratching their heads, wondering why you plugged that port. Lol.

Long live the dinosaurs.

I plan to do the same to the exhaust ports in the heads next time they're off, then blend them into the pockets I ported and should have plugged 19 years ago.

And I totally missed Stampie's 3 piston guess. Maybe my eyeballs were fooled by the subliminal messaging in his avatar picture. So that's a 3-way tie. Who's buying?
