Not being judgmental about ego walls....Just curious. I thought about this as I was cleaning garage and throwing out 30+ years of ax, motorcycle racing, circle track, roadracing trophies that I never took time to display... I dunno...memories/experience always seemed more important than hardware.
I never even picked up my college diploma when I graduated 12 years ago.
That's how little I care about stuff like that.
I don't know where my diploma is, but I'm fairly certain I picked it up.
I have a bunch of trophy magents on the fridge because they make good magnets. At one point I had too many, so I threw all the not-first place magnets in a box. Then I moved and I lost the magnets that were on the fridge. So now I have only 2nd and 3rd place magnets
I do have some local region season points champion things hung up near my computer.
All that stuff is autox and local regions, so I don't really care much about it. If I trophied at nationals, I'd display it. If I won a WRL/Chump/Lemons race I'd display that trophy.
Most of mine are memorabilia of days gone by. Recently I have been having thoughts, why do I still have them.
I did give a couple to the Keene (NY) Hillclimb museum.
57 years of trophies can accumulate. Time to get rid of them.
I'd guess much depends on SWMBO and her decorating style. Although my brother who is an avid hunter has many trophies in his house. I always thought it ironic since he's a veterinarian.
I have a couple of regional season class wins trophies on a shelf in my living room, but the shelf is 12' long and full of all sorts of cool baubles from my travels so the trophies aren't the ceterpiece.
Event wins locally are beer glasses so I have a bunch of those in the cupboard that get used regularly.
I have a cabinet shelf for 'em. Some are for individual offroad rallies, but others are national-level trophies for offroad rally and autocross, that's a big deal, right?
I know a guy who lines them up on a ledge in his man-cave/private auto museum:
Anybody remember dash plaques? I did stick them on my race cars back in the day. Sorta validated cars provenance.

I keep the a few that specifically invoke memories of certain experiences...I figure that's the kind of stuff that having a memorabilia box and/or shelf is for.

Our SCCA club just gives hats for class wins, so I display my "trophy" every time I go outside

I think they make good garage decor, so yes, I display.
Mostly auto-x with a few old moto-x pics and trophies mixed in.
I figure I paid a lot of money for those little plastic trophies, might as well display them.
I have the dash plaques from the two random AXs I’ve done. If I ran a full season and got a full set I might do a plaque to mount them on.

I have a bunch of THSCC rallycross magnets on my toolbox, because magnets.
When I raced BMX the local track accepted 5 or so trophies back as a race entry fee. They trophied 4 places deep so after 40ish races a season, they'd stack up.
My local club does shirts as "trophies", and that's pretty much the only casual wear I own, so . . .
As for actual made out of metal/plastic, etc - only two. The first one I ever won and a recent one that I barely edged out my teenage son to win.
Sold my Corvette, and forgot about the trophies won in local shows. Not a selling point I guess. Found them in the shed looking for something. Well they found there way to the trash.

I have my national trophies on a bookshelf collecting dust. I don't know where all the regional squishy cones end up.

I never had my AutoX trophies out, but we do keep our Lemons trophies out as those were mostly very hard fought. On the mantel now are two IOEs and 2 org choices, other table has 2 class wins, another org choice, and an I got screwed. Other teammates have some too.

That's pretty well me. The only thing that brought me a bunch of medals and such was competitive kayaking, and I'd give them to my kid to play with. For some reason I've kept a wrestling trophy from 1978 though.
Just I thought would throw out there that Mario Andretti's home has a TROPHY ROOM that looks as big as my entire first floor...

I’ve only got a small handful of trophies. I gave them to my “sponsor” (aka, buddy who lets me use his shop space from time to time).

Just at the office, have the diploma and board certification stuff up there.
I have declined the trophies for the autocross stuff, would rather the spend the money on cones to replace the ones I have drug to death under my car. I think I am getting a jacket this year though, and who can't use a lightweight jacket.
Suppose Mario has this suit in his trophy room?
Mine were in a box for years. Finally unpacked them & hung them up in the shop/downstairs bathroom in IL. Packed them up again this year & brought them down to MS. Planned on hanging them above my desk - they're still packed. Might be a winter-time project on on a weekend when it drops down near 40 & is too cold to work in the garage.
Our local club gave you a choice: trophy or a glass mug. So I usually went for the mug. I have two right here on my desk. One's full of car keys, and the other is for guitar picks.
I still have a trophy for the local class championship I won. I think I was also the category class champ, too, that year. Glancing around my office, I don't see that one.
Pretty sure I know where my college diploma is, but I know that it's still in its shipping tube.
