I need to send these from FL to NC. Any idea how best to do so and what the cost might be? Buyer has offered to pay shipping but I'm trying to be economical on his behalf.

Fedex ground banded together I would assume $46ish

Thanks for the opinion. I guess I call FedEx and ask them.

Ups has a simple online utility to get a quote. $50 ballpark based on my experience.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread,  but does anyone know where to get two tires banded together like shown in the original post?

Those bands are made of plastic and melted together, they're commonly put together in warehouses and factories that put stuff into boxes or on pallets.

I would be inclined to just chain together the biggest zip ties I can get my hands on as a quick and easy substitute though.

When I've done it I just did a few wraps with packing tape to hold them together. Similar to the banding but with tape instead of plastic straps.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

Also check sites like "pirateship" for shipping deals at business pricing.

I hate shipping companies charging residents 300 dollars to ship something a state away but Amazon can ship me a huge box filled with the tiniest crap from Asia for $1.45 in 2 days.

They can't, the extra shipping cost has just been rolled into the price.

In reply to modlite9 :

Just tape them together with packing tape. That's what Tire Rack does.

Then why was the item only $4.75?

The ones I get from Tire Rack usually show up banded like the ones in the photo.

Tape probably causes cancer in California cheeky

Mine's are always taped and its a sticky mess in the Florida heat.

We’ve taped tires together, too. If packing tape leaves too much residue, would something more like gaffer tape work?

On the subject of shipping tire costs, I find the calculations baffling at times. Tire Rack and some other retailers ship free, while others charge an arm and a leg. Hell, I was looking at a set of tires from Coker for my 2002, only to discover that I can get the same tires - sold at virtually the same price - shipped to me from a retailer in the UK for free, while Coker wants over $100 to ship ~900 miles. I don't get it.

Shrink wrap might work. You could use that and then tape over it.
