Been looking all over and can't find dimensions of the old 5.0 efi. Found dimensions (29 x 24 x 27.5) but that was without a carb. I know that efi intakes are tall, I think the 94/95 intake is shorter. Trying to see if I can squeeze one into the anglia 100e.

Not sure on the Ford intake, but the Edelbrock Performer 5.0 version is 10.61" tall. Should give you some idea if it will fit.

I remember reading that when Ford installed the 5.0L in the early 90's Tbird they used a design that lowered the height so that is would fit under the hood. It was only a few model years as they then went to the 4.6L OHC V8 in the car. You might look into that and see if you can gain any room with one.

Okay, so there is one sitting in my garage mounted in an E36, with an Explorer intake on it and about 5mm of hood clearance. So this would be a good opportunity for me to measure it for you.

Just tell me, where you want me to put the bottom of the yardstick. Height above the front subframe crossmember? Mine has the Fox oil pan on it, so the front and rear sections of the oil pan hang down over the crossmember. The way I have it mounted, the saddle in the pan rides about 10mm above the cross-member.

Yeah, you better believe I'm using STIFF poly engine mount elastomers.

In reply to JBasham:

If you have room to measure from the top of the intake to the bottom of the oil pan, that be awesome. I'll probably be running a fox pan too.

Cool. I measured from the bottom of the back half of the oil pan to the top of the EFI intake. That's 26.75 inches. There was enough imprecision in my measurement technique that you should probably add a 0.5 inch fudge factor to that, just to be on the safe side.

There is a throttle position sensor that adds a little more height above the top of the intake. I am using an Explorer throttle body and intake. The TPS on the Explorer adds 1 inch. It is possible to use a throttle body from a Fox, which has a thinner TPS of 0.75 inch. Some times that quarter inch is all the difference.

So to be clear, we are: At best - 26.75 + 0.75 = 27.5

                   At worst - 26.75 + 0.5 + 1.0 = 28.25

One more thing to consider. You can see, the intake is big and it juts pretty far forward, almost parallel to the vertical plane drawn at the back edge of the front crossmember. If you have a down-sloping hood, it's possible you might clear at the back side of the motor but not at the front.

Also that photo looks like a Fox intake, not an Explorer. If you're using the former, you should google around to see if the Fox is taller.

Thanks for that. The pic was one i found off google and it was a foxbody one. I know if i need alittle more room the 94/95 5.0 intake is shorter and i think the tbird one was even shorter than the sn95. As soon as I clear off the crap off the front of the anglia I'm going measure it up.

Good deal. Breathing is the weak point on the 5.0 so I'm going to need a track intake soon. Hope I can find one that's stock height or less, but I WILL cut a hole in the hood if I need to.
