No, I'm not wearing women's garments or asking about dry cleaning tips - I'm talking about the vinyl top on the Miata.
It was a beautiful "shiny" black when I bought the car, but now it's looking a little weathered. I'd like to keep it nice looking and keep the material pliable - is there a product out there that does that? I took a quick peek on the webz, but I haven't a clue otherwise.
The hive here surely has the answer to keep the top on my answer tip top.
303 aerospace protectant. Worked great on my S2000

Don't park outdoors more than you have to. I would figure that would be the number one thing you could do. Limit uv exposure.

Replace it when it get crispy and greyed out.

Been more of an issue the last few weeks, but generally it's under the parking structure at work (some sun gets to it), or in the garage.
To RossD - that's what I'm trying to avoid!
Time to go get some 303.
Thanks!
Man I wish I could get that 303 stuff. I know the automotive shops around here don't carry it. Maybe I should try a boat shop?
I use 303 on my Wrangler for everything, including the plastic fenders, the top and the plastic bumpers (when it had them). It really helped keep things nice in the ridiculous Florida sunshine.
Fwiw, I spent some time doing a study of the different products on vinyl. Using my Miata as the test mule in fact. Tested about 40-50 products, including 303.
~3 weeks, all benefits were gone, regardless of product.
I have a '90 Miata with 99k miles and the factory original top and original plastic window.
Build in June of '89, that means 26 years old last month.
Indoor storage if possible but my one rule has always been...
No Chemicals
No soap, no protectants, etc.
Only lots of water. Hand scrub spots if needed but mostly just rinsing with water.

No, thanks. That's Protestant whiskey!
Wow, phone's predictive typing changed protectants to prodistants.
I think I bought 303 at a Line-X store. I've heard boating stores tend to have it, too.

I got some at a boating store, but now I just buy it from my good friends at Amazon.
I was going to suggest "don't get pregnant"...
