The big problem with most of the cars in console games (and probably a lot of PC games too), is that they are so limited on memory, that the cars all have the same suspension. There's no solid axle vs. IRS, struts vs. coilovers, etc., in the game.

At first I was skeptical of how realistic GT5 is. After 8 years of GT5 with a steering wheel (this is key), I went to my first autocross. Much to my surprise, I beat my instructor's time by 2.5 seconds and he won the race class.

No experience with GT5, but I recently bought Forza 4 and downloaded the pack with the FR-S because I own an FR-S (over 1 year now) and FM4 was less than half it's original price. It's okay but really can't be used to judge driving the actual car other than it kinda sort resembles it from a distance... Co-worker likes to tweak settings for Forza so I gave him input on changes needed and get his tweaked setting for the FR-S and it's way closer than the stock setup, but still not good enough. FM4 thinks the FR-S is a drift machine when it's not....even the stock tires that everyone complains about have plenty of grip in real life and the car rotates around the rear wheels into corners insanely quick but with such stability and precision that you have 100% trust and feel in what the chassis is doing at all times. In FM4 you have no trust in what the chassis is doing most of the time...waiting for it to step out on you and constantly counter steering to keep the rear end from coming around....annoying how wrong it is with the stock game setup actually. This is with the standard 360 controller, I have a Fanatec Porsche wheel and Clubsport pedal setup that I'll eventually make rig for. I've used the pedals in the past with a Logitec FFB wheel for GTR 2 (exclusively run Porsche GT3 RSR) and it was excellent. Have no time to build a sim rig with other stuff to do around the house though...

GT6 is supposed to be pretty impressive. Kazunori Yamauchi (the creator of the series) was talking in a recent interview about how during testing for the Nurburgring 24 this year, they had a GT6 prototype set up in their pit garage, and they were able to fix a handling problem with their car by doing testing in GT6 and then applying the exact same settings to the real car.

Here is a neat little nugget of advice I learned from some top 50 leaderboard guys, the antiroll bars are switched. The front acts like the rear one and vice versa. They flipped them during the early PI adjustment patch and reduced rear grip to prevent the muscle cars from dominating everything again.

After learning this, and tuning for it, it became like it was before for the most part. And the cars acted normal for a change.

Archer, good thing they didn't have Nakajima driving for them.....

I did. With that said, I'm don't claim to be video driving expert...or even good. I had almost an hour on the PS3/GT6 rig, and only a few minutes on the xbox one Forza
