I'll add that my wife's 2011 Sonata Limited 2.0 T-GDI was nothing but trouble from just months after it was purchased new. From a leaking transmission case, to persistent shifting issues with the transmission, to shoddy interior quality, to the faulty brake switch that produces a no-start condition. No new car should make that many trips to the dealership on a roll-back. Good riddance! The car was recently replaced by a new Honda Accord V6.
And I'll counter your single anectdote with another: http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/another-appliance-thread-hyundai-content/34080/page1/
My Elantra had 3 recalls. All 3 were bullE36 M3 recalls (IMO). The first was a brake line clip. The brake line MIGHT come loose SOMETIME and EVENTUALLY rub a hole, MAYBE (0 cases of that ever happening, just the possibiity that it could). Second was a roll over protection valve. IF the car rolled over in an accident, then got hit again it MIGHT leak fuel. (Again, no cases of it actually happening, it just might). The 3rd was an ECU reflash. I don't think I ever took it in for that. 160k trouble free miles later I traded it in on the SeX.

I appreciate the fact that some folks are having good experiences with their Hyundai's and I think that's great, but I've done a bit of online "research," and I can state with some certainty that there are plenty of owners that are having experiences similar to mine.
...and here comes the Hyundai bashing. I'm out.

Is this recall for huge Hyundais only?
2011 Elantra Completely trouble free.
North Korea is best Korea!
C'mon guys! This hardly qualifies as "Hyundai bashing". You need to do better than this!
My accent is affected by the brake light switch recall. I hang around a certain hyundai forum a lot, have only seen a handful of people actually have a problem with it. Ive also seen a couple people just have really bad luck with their hyundai's, just problem after problem.
Im in the camp of having 85k+ trouble free miles on a Hyundai I bought new in 2009. A+++ would buy again. Actually the seats are uncomfortable. Kill it with fire!
After being impressed with the direction Hyundai was taking, I convinced my Mom to consider an Azera, which she purchased. This was in 2009, and the car has been pretty decent for her. It's had a few issues (covered under warranty), but overall it's been ok. The interior hasn't held up well, and has developed quite a few squeaks and rattles. Overall the feeling is of a decent car, built on the cheap. Like I said, it's been decent, but it hasn't aged very well. Keep in mind, this car has been totally pampered, driven by a 65 year old woman, and has just under 60K miles. She doesn't hate the car, but I doubt she'll be going back to Hyundai.
She has also found the Hyundai dealer to be miserable to deal with--- probably the worst part of the ownership experience. She purchased the car in Jacksonville Beach FL--- I forgot the dealers name.
I'm pulling for Hyundai, as I really like most of their new designs. There is certainly still room for improvement though.

Hyundai/Kia rolled out their first in-house transmission in their 2011 models. The problems you had may have been teething issues from being in the initial batch.
F hyundai. Unfair trade practices, cribbed styling , sub par quality over the long run-I'm out.

Well, I do see them, and their flaws all day, every day. Tends to make one jaded.

Can we talk about how much better a G13 is than a B16 is because of how much more power it makes down low than a B16 now?

Michael Shersby: But is not Oasis the greatest British band since the Beatles? Can we not vote on this?!
