On an '09 or '11 accent, is the TPMS just am idiot light or is it tied into some deeper computer system in the car?

Should just be an idiot light. Only car I know of that does anything like a limp mode are Corvettes with TPMS.
which light the ( ! ) light or the "TPMS" light
the ( ! ) light tells you your tire pressure is low. The "TPMS" light illuminates when there is an issue with the system.....like it isn't communicating with a sensor. It doesn't affect the operation of the car at all. Its just an annoying light on the dash.......unless that causes you an issue with annual inspections or something.
right now mine (09 accent) has both lights lit....tire pressure is low on the stock rims stacked in the garage, TPMS light lit because its not communicating with sensors that arent there, because there arent any on my aftermarket wheels. If I am doing work in the garage, the TPMS light goes away because it communicates with the stack of wheels. It lights back up about a half hour of drive time later when it cant find them nearby again.
Just an idiot light and a proper hassle to try to introduce new sensors to the car for a second set of wheels. However, I know Hondas won't let you disable able the VSA (stability control) with the button if the TPMS sensors aren't present, you have to pull the fuse.
Revive time. I ended up with an '09 Civic LX-S. Do I need to spend the extra $150 on TPMS for my set of snow wheel/tires? Or is the worst of it going to be the light on the dash? Car has no vcs, so I don't need to worry about that.
