So my 2004 Crown Vic Interceptor has had a bit of a hesitation at a feathered throttle. It's bee that way for 80k miles, so no big deal, but it has gotten a little worse. In the time I've had her I've had all new plugs and coils, a few cheap IACVs and then a decent one, but the other day I got a wild hair up my ass. I pulled the throttle body off, cleaned it up, and put a new TPS in. Never even bothered checking the old one with a multimeter. No CELs or anything like that.
Today I get a CEL for p0122 and p1120. My idle is high as the IACV is wide open. I unplug the harness from it and it drops the idle to normal range in park. Both codes are TPS related, so I go ahead and check the voltage. I've got 5v going in and a clean sweep from around .9v to 4.5ish. The ground tested good as well.
I've got it sitting off the battery right now, but I'm at a loss. Any idears on what to check out... or where the throttle return spring few to? I can't find that motherberkeleyer anywhere. Meh. Who needs um, right?

Based on the title, I expected this to be a thread about a 10mm socket.
Put your old tps back in and see what happens? The new one could be bad out of the box.
My first panther had a series of Holly four barrels after I trashed the VV carb.
It had "a bit of a hesitation at a feathered throttle" for 14 years.
I probably could have tuned that out if I knew what I was doing. Good luck with yours.
TPS should be right round .5V with throttle closed. Are the mounting holes slotted? Have you been berkeleying with the throttle stop?
Sounds like you need to get a voltmeter and clock that TPS.
What brand of TPS was it? I've found lately that for sensors like that only real OEM stuff works right for more than 15 minutes. Check it with a voltage meter, but I bet a Motorcraft one will solve the problem.
Close the throttle stop screw until just before the butterfly sticks then clear codes and re-test.
Ford sets the throttle stop with the butterfly fully closed as the PCV gack will eventually plug any gap.
The motor should not idle well or at all with the IAC unplugged.

Or a circlip.
Circlip was my immediate thought, too.
