An offer i made languished away.  On a very cold Cleveland evening - the very evening our own Mazdeuce left for tejas giving love a chance with his newfound Miata - I went to look at something.  Something that I never thought I would ever have the chance to get my hands on.  Something made of unobtanium unless you have a 5 figure bank account or are willing to spend half that on one you can see through.  Something so rare they only made 1.5 million of them in this particular year.

So, freezing, I made my offer and walked away.  Days passed and I got less optimistic.  No “nope.”  No “here’s our counter offer.”  Nothing.  I figured he was pissed at me or was shopping my offer around.  Weeks passed, I threw the money I had set aside for it at my credit card bill because I had given up hope.  I even just forgot completely about it in a vain attempt to not have another “the time this one got away” story for my grandkids when I’m an old gearhead teaching another generation how we used to put oils in our cars that were made from decomposed dinosaurs.

Out of the blue yesterday I got a text.  Brittany, a very good friend, was facilitating the sale because the car belongs to her father, who’s moved to assisted living.  Because of the last comment, it was the first opportunity she had to get him to the house to evaluate my position on the car and get him to make a decision.  A counter offer was received, and with the help of svrex buying an engine and transmission from me for his el camino, the rest of the funding was secured.

So I did a thing, and I shall leave you in limbo until Wednesday evening when i go to start picking up the extras.  As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

I considered waiting around to see what the answer was when I was there. Probably good that I haven't been camping out on your couch for the last six weeks. Very glad about the answer though. I'm excited for you.

I don't think there were 1.5 million TR3's made in total.

1.5 million a year puts it in rarified territory. Not even the Beetle had numbers like that. My guess:

Although maybe not that body style...

So does that mean we should expect 675 more words from you before we can effect an exchange for a photo?*

I took 1.5 million to be a figurative number not a literal number.

Being iconic and knowing Pat I will then guess a Gen1 Camaro or '55-57 Chevy 2 door.
