This is very un-GRM-like, but I got tired of driving the least broken vehicle to work every day. Every single one of the last 30 cars I've owned has been purchased with serious damage. It feels weird to not drag something home that needs bodywork, a paint job, rust repair, an engine rebuild, or other major repairs.

I'm not sure what to do now. Usually I start shopping for parts but the only things I can think of to order are floor mats. That and I need to stop looking at my bank account...it hurts! I'm excited to tow something...it should be able to handle anything I can manage to throw at it. I'll miss the old F-150 sad

I love the color. What year is it? New or slightly used?

I don't see an ecoboost badge. Is that a 5.0? 4.6?

Uh, can a site moderator please dispense the appropriate punishment on the OP for posting un-GRM activities on the GRM web board?

Congrats!

When I bought new, the repair time I would have spent went towards keeping every part of the car super clean.   When I sold it 5 years later, it was probably cleaner than the new models on the dealer's lot.

Cleaning supplies are cheaper than repair parts, but my total time invested really didn't change.  cheeky

Love the color on that truck.

Enjoy driving it without having to wrench on it. Great color too.

It's at least 4 years old and could be as Much as 9 years old, so I think it fits the criteria for "GRM activities".

Thanks guys! I still feel a bit weird about it all. I spent the last hour or so attempting to rust proof the cab corners, wheel arches, and bumpers so that I don't feel as bad driving it in the salt/snow.

For those that asked:

It's a 2014 XLT 5.0L 4x4 that is fairly well optioned. I would classify it as somewhat used as it has about 70k miles but it seems to be nearly flawless. My wife and I saved up for a few years so we wouldn't have to finance so that limited our options on newer trucks. Fortunately, we got a pretty incredible deal.

I was tempted to buy a 3.5L Ecoboost truck as I'm extremely familiar with that engine family from work but just felt somewhat better about the relative simplicity of the 5.0L.

Nicely chosen. I think the color was called Blue Jeans or something like that. Always liked that one.

Don't over-think it there, fella, just a little humor (post begins with "this is very un-GRM-like"...).

There is absolutely nothing wrong with buying a vehicle that doesn't keep you awake at night.  Especially not if it can be used to support the vehicles that do.  Congratulations!

I am sure that you will love it as much as the other 101 people who bought one that hour.  (Yes, they sell 102 F-150s every hour, all day, every day.  They must be doing SOMEHTING right!)

In reply to pinchvalve :

Ironically, I briefly worked on the line where F-150s are assembled. They did tell us that we couldn't build them as fast as they were selling...and we were putting together 800 or so trucks a shift!

I've been there - I enjoying working on/tinkering with the project cars, but nothing sucks the joy out of it more than having to work on something that has to run the next morning in order to get you to work.

Good looking truck - and congrats for being able to save up some - not everyone has that kind of discipline!

Lol - the last number I remember hearing on F150’s is 14k pure profit per truck sold.  They have a truly winning formula...

Well I have gotten through my hesitation to drive in the salt and snow. We got about 9" last Friday and I was one of the only people that showed up to work since nobody plowed. Never have owned a 4x4 truck before; I'd have a hard time going back!
