Well, I decided that bodywork and paint were too much work and expense, so I fixed the GRM way!

If this doesn't get me in the magazine nothing will...

Seriously though, everything is fixed (alignment, door hinge pins, fender, rocker, mirror, interior pieces) except the actual door. Window even goes down and up! I procured another door, but it's Bright Red. Bodywork and paint are the winter projects (I need to fix the front bumper, valance, and header panel plus install some body mods). Should look great next year in paint with the new black interior and my new wheels!

Looks good for less then half of Challenge money

Hey! I had that exact car! Except for the fact that mine had a wing, it looked exactly the same down to the color. Make sure to use the right lug nuts, the wrong ones will make your wheel fall off while driving down the interstate with your wife, dog, and a full load of luggage. We never did find that wheel. The tow guy said it was probably embedded in the side of a tractor trailer-I was going for the middle of a field.

Nice fix. What gaping dent?

Seriously though, that is a cool car. Wheels are also a perfect match; period correct and in a great colour, too.

They're stock 1st Gen RX-7 "LE" wheels (known as meshies). 4x110 and the original lug bolts. They got to me in all silver paint (factory IIRC). I stripped them with Oven Cleaner, then a citrus degreaser, and a pressure washer. Then I sanded (150/240/400) the lips and hand-polished with Mother's (the real stuff that comes in a damn can!) 3 times. Then I masked the lips and painted the factory "rough" cast centers straight with Dupli-Color Bronze wheel paint. 2 coats per center, 1 can did all 4 wheels. Unmask, mount, polish one more pass (quicky) and snap pics.

It's a basic "+1" setup. The stock wheels were 13x5.5 with 185/70/13 Toyo Spectrums. These are 14x5.5 with 195/60/14 Toyo Spectrums. Actual tread width is nearly an inch more! Those get replaced with Falken Azenis Rt615's tomorrow anyways (in 195/60/14).

This winter in addition to replacing the door I plan on adding a small front and rear spoiler, fixing all of the door dings/dents, and doing all of the sanding and priming. I have a lot of ideas for what the finished product should look like.

UPS Tracking says the Falkens are on a truck in Longview and are "en route". Oh yeah!
