In those years, the Rav4 V6 was the fastest 0-60 car that Toyota offered.
That may be the saddest thing I've seen today and I killed a mouse with a fireplace shovel before breakfast.
But did you kill it faster than a V6 Rav4 can run the quarter mile?
The rav 4 v6 must have been Toyota’s version of the little red express truck.

You could also get the first-generation Saturn Vue with 2.2L Ecotec and a 5-speed manual. In theory, I suppose you could put in the supercharged or turbocharged Ecotec into it and have some fun, although I'm not sure on the logistics. I also could swear I drove a first-gen Equinox with a 4-cylinder/5-speed combo, although Wikipedia says no such beast exists.

Not quite as fast but still fairly quick were the 1998-only Grand Cherokee Limited with the 5.9L and AWD. 245hp, 345 lb-ft. 0-60mph in 6.8 seconds, and 1/4 mile in 15.20 and 60-0mph in 126 feet. Not too shabby for something as weighty as a Grand Cherokee and possessing the aerodynamics of a refrigerator stacked on top of a larger refrigerator. Also, ZJ Grand Cherokees have the most comfortable front seats known to man. Kind of a proto-Grand Cherokee SRT-8. I have a friend building one into an autocross rig.
And if anyone in the general area of upstate NY ever wants to see how entertaining a somewhat modded one can be, don't be afraid to poke me for a ride / drive in mine.
Did y'all see the recent-ish 1320 video on YouTube from Brainerd Motorsports Park?
There were a pair of 11 second ZJs there. I wish they'd gotten more details, or at least an under hood shot. Based on the dual "hater pipes" out the fenders of one of them I assume it was turboed.

Our RAV4 would give my Mustang a run for its money. The midrange on the RAV4 is pretty amazing, once it gets going it'll give you a bunch of torque steer from 40-60 MPH. Two hands on the wheel are mandatory if you punch it! Our Saab turbo (known for torque steer) was a docile in comparison.
If you thing the RAV4 being the fastest Toyota to 60 for a period of time is sad, for a few years in the early 00s, 01-03 I believe, the fastest Honda to 60 was the odsessey.

I don't know... my S2000 felt a lot faster than my Odyssey does.
It's the high rpms playing tricks on you ;)
HHR SS shouldn't be forgotten.
13 second run

Yeah, I saw some chatter from the brothers who built them. The one with the fender dumps is NA, not turboed, but there was some talk about throwing a 200 shot at it in the future... 1/4 mile record for a ZJ stands somewhere in the high 10s, but nobody can remember exactly what it was, so we're not sure if one of those ZJs might have cracked it.

The ‘04-‘05 Forester 2.5XT was also in the 13s in stock form.
My dad had one at the same time I had my Evo VIII. It was deceptively quick.

I also like that he was pulling the front wheels on 100% stock suspension.
Our stock 2008 Acura RDX was very quick for its size. Had great stiff suspension also.

We had one of these with the 4 speed auto. It was pretty cool but the engine died as turbo EJ25s do. I wish Mazda would do a CX-5 sport, throw enthusiast parents a bone. The 2.5 turbo is coming next year. I may just have to get springs to lower and stiffen it myself.

Subaru has a pretty good 4spd auto but it should probably be pointed out that if you do buy an XT auto it will do nothing anywhere near 13s. It'd be lucky to do 14.9 stock. Stock is almost irrelevant on older turbo cars with almost-free power sitting on the table, but i just want to throw that out there. A lot of the manual trans turbo cars that can barely crack 13s on hero passes are getting ~.4s or more from a balls-out launch that isn't possible with an auto. I've brake-standed (that sounds funny) a stock 2.5 turbo 4spd auto Baja and it just doesn't get anywhere near what's possible with a manual with stock boost control.

I went a different route with mine haha.

I need to hurry up and find a second ZJ so I can do that...

Was it a RAV4? Was it the CRV? I think it was the Toyota but can’t remember the year(s).
Does anyone know what I’m referring to? I remember it being discussed.
And feel free to add to the subject. Any quick little SUV/CUV’s out there? Say $3,000.
Obviously, from the thread, the 2005-12 RAV4 is the quick one. Good luck finding one for $3k, though.

Actually, if you find a v8 XC90 for 3k, they are fairly quick. 4.4L X5s are fairly quick and can be 3k. I've seen really ratty Cayenne S's for 3k. All of those are ~low-mid 15 1/4 mile SUVs. A 3.5 Rav4 is way faster but yeah, not happening for 3k unless you buy it from Copart!
When I saw the thread title my first thought was the "Trollblazer" (Saab 9-7x Aero), 0-60 in 5.5 seconds!

I'd have to believe that a short bed, short cab Tundra with a V8 would have been faster than the RAV-4
I just found out the Macan S does 0-60 in 4.7 seconds, so that's pretty sweet.
