2001 525iT, manual trans, factory BBS 2 piece wheels, sport suspension, xenon headlights, lux and cold packs, sunroof.
It popped up on eBay, I contacted the seller (who has an M5, a Shelby continuation series cobra, a couple uber-rare early Volvos, etc) pleaded my case as the ideal next owner, and managed to keep the deal together for 4 days 'til I picked it up on Long Island today and drove it back to MD.
It's awesome. 250+ miles on 1/2 tank, the sport suspension is way good enough for a street car, it's fast enough, crazily comfortable, and devours miles like you wouldn't believe. I do the NY-MD I-95 death march a lot. I've done it in every kind of car - never as easily as this. It's magical.
I guessed right!! I figured it was this car. Very cool car! As a former BMW touring owner, I love it!
nice, those are great cars. my company tries to buy (and sell) any e39 wagon we can get in clean shape, especially 540i Msport or any manual trans model.
I saw this car on Ebay and I saw too many problems with it that you must have overlooked so I went ahead and passed on it. Oh well, best of luck to you, I guess.

I've got the sedan twin as my DD - same year, same options (minus the xenons). I've been through most of the common issues with mine; let me know if you have questions.
(Gratuitous photo of said twin)
Very nice! Swap in a 3.0 and it would be perfect

I'm interested in what you saw that I didn't. It's got dead pixels on the stereo (duh) a couple scratches in the clear coat, and a little wave in the drivers side door from some mediocre PDR work my PDR guy can fix. It's got full service records, was enthusiast owned, has 88k miles, and the PPI was perfect. Compression was within a couple pounds from 1 to 6, and I talked to the tech who's worked on the car since '06.
It really, genuinely drives like it's new. And I'm picky.

I don't get most BMW's, but this one is hitting all the right buttons. Niiiiiice!
Looks like a steal to me. Glad I didn't send it to Bring a Trailer
Seriously, great buy, hope it loves you back.

Yes, it was primarily the pixel problem that gave me pause.....just how much did you overspend on this abomination?

Really? I don't think I've ever seen an E39 without dead pixels, my father's cream puff included.
OP: you lucky bastard! Someday I'll have another BMW touring...

Who shat in your Wheaties this morning?
BTW; I eat Costco bagels for breakfast......I think it's a nice looking car. Enjoy.
