I bet you are going to try and stay as far away from Mid Ohio as you can from now on.
I tried to get back up on Sunday but my wife threatened bodily harm if I was gone all day again.
Nah - that is a fantastic track. Super-technical but with lots of risk/reward for balls. I'll be back as soon as I figure out why the gremlins keep screwing up my electronics. Now that I kinda know my way around the track a bit better I need to bring competitive hardware and maybe choose a day when it's not 34F and wet during qualifying. Key take-away: I wasn't last ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/laugh-18.png)
It was good to see you (thanks for the beer too!).
First ruel of these cars is keep a spair head on the shelf.
If you have not done a head swap in one of these it is one if the easiest head job's you can do.

I see your over-complicated German Mopar rip-off and raise you one Ford 2.0/2.3L!
I could do the head gasket in my TBird Turbo Coupe in under 40 minutes (after replacing all of the bolts the first time around with ones that weren't moronic). An actual carb'd version must be absolute cake.
The head is almost off. There is a bunch of stuff in the way, but it's all very simple.
Didn't have a tool I needed to get it the rest of the way off, so it'll have to wait until tomorrow. So far, I have determined that all four intake valves are intact. ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/googly-18.png)
We'll see what the exhaust valves look like.
The belt didn't actually break, it just ripped the teeth off around the crank pulley.
Update: one slightly bent exhaust valve.

So, easily fixable then?
Yep. Should be back on the road in a couple weeks if I can get the tools.
Make sure you replace the seal at the back of the cam tower. Easily overlooked and so easy while the cam is out. In the car it is a PITA only because you know how simple it would be if the cam was removed. Pelican has them for about $2.00 or so.

Nice! Glad to hear you don't need my spare engine!

Yeah, now you can keep it for your own use!

Any guesses?
Who's got the badass tow truck? Think I saw it when Rigsbee was getting his GS towed on Facebook

That is a pretty slick rig

Hopefully I won't need it, but I did have the thought of replacing EVERY seal and gasket on it and swapping mine out. Mine leaks from just about everywhere it can.
I think I'm going to try to source a 2.7 and build a hot motor out of it.
Wasn't there a bit of an issue with 2.7 parts prices?

Indeed. That's why I hope I never have to replace those valves.
That said, the 2.7 head is the only one you can use to build a 3.2 liter 8 valve Turbo.
