That is crazy cheap! My only pricing of newer car mirrors lately was for my old LS400; Lexus wanted over $1200 for the mirror with housing. Just the glass was $600! Granted that was heated and auto-dimming but that was crazy town expensive.

I managed to find a mirror in the junkyard with a broken housing but good glass (the part I really needed) for $12.50. I was pretty happy about that one.

If I remember correctly the mirror from Cadillac was $800, then had to color match the pearl white.

The rear window cleared, but so did the mirrors! I didn't even know I had heated mirrors! I've had the truck for 6 years and just turned 110k miles. I wonder what other secrets my cars have.......

I didn't find this out about my 2000 Jeep Cherokee until this past summer when i had to get a quote for insurance to replace one of those bad boys.

Late 80's and early 90's Audi 5000s and 200s with the winter package had heated everything: Seats, windows, washer nozzles and...wait for it...LOCKS! If the car sensed the temp was below 35, pulling the driver's door handle would start up the element around the lock and thaw it out. Obviously this was before remote locks became standard...

Grumble, grumble, needless complication and weight on modern cars, grumble.

Yes, I have heated mirrors, and yes, I love them.

Yep, and I was also expecting to hear about the lit can of Sterno under the oil pan engine heater.

Heated mirrors. Pshaw. Friend of mine has a new Dodge truck with an electrically heated steering wheel.

I didn't know they were so common. Good to know they are so cheap for the wrx!

Tom- you just gotta drive faster to compensate for the weight

Oh, trust me, I have no issue with them. I was just imitating some of the folks around here who like to complain about "excess" electronic complication on newer cars. Personally, I'm a gadget freak. I'll take everything they can put on a car.

And neither of those systems work, amirite? ;)

I seriously wish there was a way to add this to windshields. It would allow me to pull the rest of the HVAC from the RX7. Having a national championship in Nebraska in October pretty much requires me to have some way to de-fog the windshield while sitting in grid.

If your truck is a GM you might have another neat feature. Try just tapping your turn signal indicator and it may blink three times. Great for lane changes on the highway. It blinks six times if the trailer is hooked to the truck.

I knew about the three blink tap but didn't know about the six with a trailer thing. I did really appreciate the factory trailer brake wiring. Hook up the power lug, crimp on four wires and done. Pretty sweet that they bundled all that up at the factory.

I didn't realize for 2 years after buying it that my old Maxima had heated mirrors.

But that all pales in comparison to the windshield wiper de-icing strips that the WRX has (or any other Subie with the winter package). They are epic win.

My Fiesta has the three blink turn signal. You can even delete it if you don't want it ? I use it all of the time, particularly on multi lane highways when changing lanes.

'12 Sierra has 'em, came w/ power package. No rear window defrost grid cause power slider, had to read the manual though to figure out that defrost button included mirrors. Win.

Next new truck just might have heated seats and steering wheel. Why piss around, ain't gettin' no younger and I berkeleying hate winter.

Wife's '03 Outback has heated spot of the windshield where the wiper blades rest. It doesn't totally keep ice from clumping on the blades, but it does help somewhat. A very cool feature I didn't know was there until recently.
