Wife is exposed from work. He class is quarantined she taught covid positive kids. Boss is positiv.
We both have sore throat and fatigue.. some cough.. some chills.. We have taken numerous brands of rapid tests and nothing. She was PCR tested at work on Friday, so we're waiting on results. The one perk to being a teacher is that she gets priority on testing.. I guess..
anyways.. I'm drinking lots of water and just bought a nintendo switch.. so the family and I are doing mario kart... Thats about it.
I'm on day 8 from my positive at home test. Just retested as I feel pretty much normal, but nope, still in Covid jail. Strong positive result in under 2 minutes.

Check with your employer...From what I understand, you are free to return to work after symptoms and 5 days are finished.
Lots of fluids, vitamin C, D3 and Zinc help. Melatonin as well in the evenings.

You shouldn't be in covid jail.
Previous guidance was 10 days after symptoms first appeared. New guidance is 5 I believe. You will still test positive for quite some time after this, but you are no longer infectious.

My wife tested positive at a pre-flight check to return from seeing our daughter, SIL and grandson in France. Had to move flight 1 week.
We had to get 2 hotel rooms in Paris for a week. All of her meals had to be room service because she can't leave her room.
Yesterday was 5 days and using our self test kits she tested negative so we went to the airport to take official pre-flight tests and she tested negative and I tested positive. Fuuuccckkkk!
So now I'm locked down (but she's not) until I test negative and can board a flight. No leaving, room service meals.
Neither one of us have had any symptoms. Zero. We're both vaxed and have had boosters.
Between hotel rooms and meals this is getting really, really expensive but I suppose it could be worse.
Wife's pcr came back positive. Despite say 5 home tests all negative.
I know this is a few days late, but the big thing is everyone should have an O2 pulse oximeter.
That's what to watch if you have the 'Rona and when it gets below 94%, you need to get your self to the hospital post haste.

Damn Dude, hang in there.
In reply to hobiercr :
I did the same when we had it a year back

That's difficult because the wife starts at 95-96% normally.

This is misinformation. Per, well, almost all healthcare providers including Mass General and the Mayo Clinic, 90% is the lower limit threshold to call your PCP and determine whether acute medical care is required.

With my son's asthma, anything below 95 that we couldnt bring up with an inhaler was a medical visit. We were almost sent to the ER for a 94 that was being stubborn in our peditrician's office that wasnt coming up with a nebulizer. I mean, my son is 3, but I would be calling a nurse line for active advice at least for a consistent under 95 on anyone in the household.

Knowing that right now in the US if you require acute medical care, you might literally die waiting to be seen, I think I would err on the side of caution.
Wife's saliva pcr came back positive. My nasal one was negative. Same symptoms. Lots of nasal home tests are negative for both of us.

Some recent studies suggest that rapid antigen tests may be less sensitive in detecting the Omicron variant.

Dude, is there any way you can get to a country that will let you leave to Mexico, cross the US border in TJ (its a walk-across) and fly home from San Diego? Or is France keeping you from getting on a plane. Can you take a train to a less stringent country and fly home from there? No way I would sit in a hotel room for 2 weeks willingly.
As an aside, the wife has suspended me and her from all recreational international travel till you no longer need a test. We went to Mexico here over Christmas and it was always in the back of your mind, even though if you pop a posi you can 100% legally fly to Tijuana, walk across the border, and fly home in the US from San Diego.
I went on a cruise last week in the Carribbean and you had to pop a neggy 2 days before you left. Same story, super stressful until you got that piece of paper. Word on the street is one of our cruise group definitely did not have a legit neggy and went anyway (they only validated you had a piece of paper with your name, DOB, Date of test, and negative), which is sort of a E36 M3 thing to do but you know it happens a ton for the entitled class. The punishment for popping a posi on-board was pretty severe (deck 2, quarantine, no drinks, no internet if you didnt pay for it, 3 meals a day) so it was definitely in your best interest to suck it up, buttercup, unless you were near death.
Not a super great time to travel, thats for sure.

Not to be "that guy" but do you realize you're providing a how-to on circumventing the systems we've put in place to keep people alive?
Just minutes ago got my positive test results in.
This will be my second round. First one was around Thanksgiving of 2020. That round really knocked me on my ass for about six or seven days. Big fever, lost taste you know the whole thing.
This one has been really mild compared to the first. Chills but no fever, sore throat, slight cough and a headache. No worse than an old school chest cold. I'm about five days in and feel slightly better today than yesterday.
I think work requires a negative test to return. That's the only thing that worries me. I don't know how long that'll take to happen.
Oh, also to the OP. I hope you're feeling better. I haven't taken anything that seems to make a difference with the symptoms. Just been drinking a ton of water and taking some Emergen-C every day.
Unless the ultraflu I had in February of covid year 1 was actually me being a super early adopter, I just got my first round of it this week. Just a little snotty, none of the "ermagerd!" symptoms. Full sense of smell/taste/no shortness of breath/no intestinal discomfort/etc. I know exactly when I am likely to have caught it as I don't go in anywhere but work, and they are dropping out like high schoolers who just got car keys there. Thursday is the last day I was in a room with the first couple guys to not come in, so I must be day 6 of infection now.
The at home rapid test lit up the positive line so clearly it was actually darker than the valid sample line. Wife's test was the opposite. Merest shadow of the antigen line, but valid test line sharp. Good enough that we both stay in the house for at least the next five days. Not good that I am hourly, and those five days are gonna wipe out my vacation earned...
Fully vaxxed and boostered (nobody likes Booster!). Wear a mask anytime I am at work or in public. Could hardly have taken more precautions. This stuff is everywhere, and fast!
I'm done with isolation, still a bit run down. Will start back to work on Friday. I'm sort of working at home, taking virtual continuing education classes.
I was really lucky, no fever, loss of sense of smell or taste, or GI symptoms.
Well, it's coming for me again...
Kid #1 got exposed at school last week and was fine until the weekend and spiked a fever Monday. She was fever-free almost all day yesterday then it spiked again last night. This morning her and Mrs. Jav are clearly sick and got PCR tests. Achey, fatigue, headaches, sore throats, etc.
I am not feeling 100% either now. Really worried about kid #4 who has been snuggling Mom all week.
We are all fully vaccinated and Mrs Jav and I had breakthrough Delta in July. This smells of breakthrough Omicron.
In other news, one of my close friends tested positive yesterday and at work our regional administrator has been hospitalized for 2 weeks...
