i just picked up an 86 starion widebody, a few upgrades and repairs have been made, new trans / clutch flywheel, headgasket and head, turbo, exhaust,k&n exposed filter, hard piping and bov,... everything works except for the ac,but the steering wheel radio controls are cool, i've been looking for info all over the place and already know quite a bit about them, they seem like solid little cars, anyone here have experience or tips with them?

heres some picharz

one of the best looking cars I've ever been terrified to own.

aren't any left around here. 15 years ago they were everywhere. several good friends had them at that time as well. I have lots of random unexplainable horror stories.

If yours survived this long it must be a good one!

Pretty cool but what's up with the driver's side front fender?

it was replaced and my friend got creative with it, funny that i also knew the guy that owned the car before my friend did ...and before him an old lady owned it, go figure.

As of a few years ago (2007ish), your missing front splitter was still available at dealerships for surprisingly reasonable price (like $200-$300.)

I love those cars, but never even had a ride in one. Would love to get one, but they're very hard to find now.

Aw, where are y'all finding such stuff? I'm more afraid of the underhood piping than I'd be of the paint, but still..nice score. Time to shove another quarter in the GRM Jukebox...

Gah I'm jealous. Ever since I saw TG do the cheap Starion bit I've thought they would make really neat cars. Good catch. Whats with the funky front panel?

yeah the front airdams go for ~$400... not gonna happen for me, i'm making my own. i'm not too worried mechanically the car is pretty solid my friend who is also my coworker at the dealership we work at owned it before me and his father owns a little preformance shop, mostly rotaries and turbo/supercharged cars , i worked there before and he knows his stuff, he fixed all the things people fix on these cars, even the head has been changed to a more prefered non-jet head and the turbo has been reworked, i have the stock turbo in a box...

Congrats! I just picked up my 88 ESI-R last month. I can't wait for it to warm up so I can get started on it, as well as posting more pictures.

just to say, tonight was probably in the mid 60s here and finnally got on it through a few gears, and this thing is pretty fun for being slow and heavy...

I less than three Starquests. Kind of hard to find in my neck of the woods, esp. without a E36 M3-ton of rust.

Vigo, Blitzed306: Sadly, the 80's saw a lot of sports cars go the grand touring route so they are fairly heavy. Supra Mk. IIs weighed around 3000lb. FC RX-7 coupes weighed anywhere between 2600-3000lb depending on trim level, whether it was a Series 4 (86-88) or Series 5 (89-91), and whether the car was turbocharged or not.

20% of that has to be vacuum lines and other stuff that can be removed right?
