So my DD has been using oil at about qt/ 1500 Miles which I didn’t think was bad at 206k. Today however, as I was driving home with the heater blasting, there was a strong foul odor from the vents. Pop the hood to find the coolant reservoir overflowing with milky water. Is this a blown HG or the block porosity problem I hear about on the web? I’m probably going to junk it instead of fixing it but I’m curious since the temperature gage never showed a problem.
I don't know anything about this block porosity problem, but that would be a casting problem. I couldn't imagine a casting problem waiting 200k miles before it showed its face. I might be interested in at scrap price, I could use a cheap gas saver. Send me a PM.
Second thought is to tear this down to see what broke. I’ve never pulled a head so this should be a good learning experience. It will have to wait for warmer weather through.

My brothers first car was a '96 accord. Same problem, I bought it for him for $150 (happy 16th!). THICK milkshake in the cooling system.
Towed it home, swapped the HG (didn't even deck the head), and ran a garden hose through the cooling system for a while.
He drove it for 2 years and then sold it for $3000. lol. I think the problem was a bad relay on the rad fan which caused the original overheating, which we didn't realize until it got hot outside.
