I have been there and done that with cars since the original Hot Wheels. Loved em all from cabovers to sports cars. Even enduring a love/hate phase with C900 SAABs. Apparenty my recent head injury has damaged me to the point that I am now all in on the Talladega Red C900 turbo convertible project. Sold the Monza race car yesterday for funds. This one has been hard to fix for years.  Time to bring it to a finish and pray that it does not break my heart like some of my previous SAABs have.  Wish me luck.

Well, as someone who recently found himself suffering the same illness, I applaud your endeavor. What seems to be the trouble with this one?

Transmission.throwout bearing clutch injectors. Just wrapped up at a SAAB specialist. We can do a fair amount at home but that trans was out of our range... We have redone a few C900s and no car has ever ran better for me than a C900 convert and no car has ever left me more places in the worst times and spots more frequently than my last SPG.  This one is going to be a looker. Talladega red convert with black top. CE or Super Aero wheels (got both) and have a complete buffalo gray leather interior to replace the tan. How about you?

Mine is ratty 900S that I bought for next to nothing last winter as a project to build a bike hauler/rallyx/pseudo-rally look for cheap. It's simply for my own amusement. It was a decent running car when I got it, but it needed a lot of attention nonetheless. Came with a set of Super Aeros, plus the stock wheels with studded Hakkapelittas. At this point most everything works (still need to do a few things, but nothing critical) and it runs pretty well.

That said, it's far from perfect, it's not going to be perfect, and I don't care. I'm enjoying the practicality (it's far, far more practical than my other cars) and the freedom that comes with having a beater. I've been documenting mine here.
