News hasn't been good.

One of the few Americans left out there racing with the best in the world. Always been a fan. Really hate to hear this.

Oh man. Watching him win the world championship was one of my favorite things. Crossing my fingers for good news of some sort.

Saw a story on Hayden on FB but didn't read any further, never figured that tho. Prayers.

Yeah, he certainly has his own style. And he's still magical in the wet. I just hope he can recover to have a normal life, even if he never gets on a bike again.

Pulling for better news... I get the impression he's a really nice guy, and I hate to hear about this kind of incident for anyone.

I used to ride a good bit, but after a friend was killed by an innatentive driver, I gave up riding on the road. I may have gained 40 pounds, but I am alive.

Hoping he recovers.

Always been a fan.....hope he pulls through and recovers. I remember him winning the Moto-GP race at Laguna Seca---it was fantastic to see an American rider win on U.S. soil.

Biking on the road is dangerous business--- so many inattentive drivers, and just plain idiots out there.

Terrible news indeed. Been a fan of the Haydens for years. Nicky's MotoGP championship in '06 was a fantastic thing to see. And, as a Ducati owner and fan, I loved following his efforts on the factory Ducs.

I hope he pulls through and can lead a good life after all this.

I definitely have a refined opinion of riding on the street after having someone else single-handedly make the decision to wreck my Samurai on Tuesday.

Yeah, I haven't seen anything about his death from a reputable site. Let's hope for the best. (By the way, JRL 101 lesson here: Always consider the source.)

Wow, after all Hayden's infamous on track accomplishments he's set back by a near pedestrian accident.

Hope this doesn't end up drawn out Schumacher-like.

Maybe proves you really are safer on the race track.

The post I saw is gone now... Sorry.

I really don't understand the attraction of posting that type of thing. Where is the fun? Of course, I'm a sucker for E36 M3 like that, because I'm a trusting sort. Political news, or a story where there is an obvious benefit to someone, I take with a very large grain of salt.

Also a big fan. Here's hoping for a full recovery even if he never rides again.

I can't understand the recent trend about riding on the street. Cars and bikes don't mix. If you want to ride on the road at least stick to residential areas. Around here at least, you see them on some of the busiest roads in town. Crazy stuff. It's amazing more people aren't hurt or killed. Wasn't it Bob Wollek that was killed riding his bike at Sebring one year?

It doesn't really look like he was on a major thoroughfare from the pictures.

Also, there is a guy that rides his up and down one of the busiest roads in my little town with a freaking AK47 slung around his shoulder. I've seen him several times. Wouldn't take much for one these local bad guys to give him a little tap and quickly make off with that weapon. There has been a lot of people killed for a lot less around here recently.
