So people are taking out the twist beam in favor of a setup that has more unsprung inertia, just so they can get stancetastic camber?
...I think I answered my own question.
(Yes, I am huge fan of twist beams. They do everything right.)
"I must not modify the DD. I must not modify the DD."
Processing Error. Does not compute. Processing Error. Does not compute.

I said this once. It lasted about a week before I started to tinker.
Always modify the DD.

I had my Golf for a week before I did the 3"x24" plate welded to the beam thing. (Best. Change. Ever.)
There's not a car in the world that I wouldn't modify. No car is "good enough".
It's like that famous line, paraphrasing: "show me the hottest girl in the world and I'll show you a guy that's sick of berkeleying her"
There's no car so good (or so plain) it shouldn't be modded.

It has nothing to do with "good enough", I think. Anything is good enough if you accept things as they are.
What the problem is, is when you think "It might be better if..."
Like driving around today and finding that max boost on my car is 4psi. Scantool never went over 123kpa. That's just not right. Putting a turbo on a car and only allowing it to build 4psi is like putting a hotdog on a dog's nose and only allowing it to bite a little bit of it. At that point, why even bother putting an intercooler on it, let alone a front mount unit larger than the radiator? It should be up around 9-10psi easy, and that would be soooo easy to do...
Then I remember the last turbocar I had, specifically the part where it got roughly 5mphg. That's 5 miles per head gasket, which is a unit of measurement that should not have to be used on any car.

I found out last weekend why my red Volvo felt so quick...the wastegate hose fell off. It isn't nearly as fun with it connected.
"I must not modify the DD." Change that to "I need to improve my DD." Car manufacturers are hampered by the need to mass produce cars for everyone, which leads to compromises everywhere. You can make your car fit your needs with simple upgrades. They aren't modifications, but improvements.

Maintainification: Upgrading a car by using improved maintenance items. Need shocks? Coilovers. Need tires? Might as well get new wheels. Need brakes? Big brake kit time. Oil change time? LSx!
(I think i first heard of this concept on these boards a long time ago.)

Welcome to every car I have ever had... it's a slippery slope. For example, intake manifold gaskets on an LT1 Z28 turned into adding a supercharger. The TBI 350 in my winter beater/tow car needs valve guide seals, so I'm building a 450 hp sbc for it. The SVX needs tires, so I got new rims. Can't have nice wheels with stock ride height, so it will probably end up with coilovers too, just because I needed tires.
TL;DR: Modify your DD. It's the right thing to do.
Just bought a set of lowering springs and bumpsteer spacers for the 740iL that I'm going to sell. Why?
1) I can't help myself and it deserves to be lowered a bit.
2) It will help the resale value given the expected target market
Past that, the rest is just replacing the borked OEM parts with equivalent parts.
Well, I might look into a more sporty sounding muffler.... of course if an M62 were to drop into my lap....
dammit.
