.....So the word has gotten out that I seem to have a tallent for resurrecting cars that haven't run in a year or more. My latest resurrection project/headache is a '95 civic. The brake lines to the rear brakes rusted out where they pass under the floor board, and one burst. A neighbor tried to splice in a new line, but he didn't know how to flare the lines, and gave up in frustration.
So now I've replaced both brake lines for the rear nrakes from the junction block on the firewall all the way back to where they pass around the fuel tank.
The problem that I'm having is that the brakes have an inconsistent feel, and the ABS light is on as soon as the car is started.
I'm concerned that sitting for so long with an open brake line, or possibly the way that I bled it, has caused a malfunction in the ABS unit.
Its possible that I haven't worked all the air out yet, and I also haven't checked for a blown ABS fuse yet. When I go back the fuse will be the first thing I check before I try to figure bleed it some more.
I guess that what I'm getting at is, is it possible that I'm doing it wrong, and are there any special steps needed when the system has been run dry? I've doing it the old fashioned way, pumping it up manually with the key off.
