This image was in my FB feed but I've not seen it before...
Yup, BoxheadTim nailed it. Lancia 037. This is one of the street versions (Stradale) that was sold to homologate the car for Group B competition. Mid-engined Longitudinal Lancia twincam with a supercharger. RWD. Tubular front and rear subframes tied to a modified central tub from the Lancia Montecarlo/Scorpion. One of the coolest cars ever, IMO.
Styling is based off the Montecarlo/Scorpion.
A buddy has one that's been K-swapped. I can't find a recent photo of the exterior but the front end has been made to look like the 037.

IIRC they sold very, very few actual Stradales, mostly competition cars.
Also, they were apparently very fragile, with cars often requiring remedial welding during services or outright having things like the floors cracking open. And they were really, really unsafe. Bear in mind that "safe" at the time was a bolt-in aluminum roll cage, for a relative assessment.
A buddy has a genuine 037 Stradale. I can confirm it's a deathtrap.
Build quality is "couple of Italians who shouldn't have had that third glass of Barolo at lunch trying to squeeze one out at 4:15pm on a Friday" level.
But it's cooler than E36 M3

I need to hang out with you and your friends more.
A friend has a '76 Scorpion (Chevy had rights to Montecarlo in the US)... the things I would do if I had it. I mean, besides going broke.
In reply to Pete. (l33t FS) :
For a half million you can get a restomod that works.
They do start with a Montecarlo, but like the Cyan P1800 only the floorpan is left.
In reply to LanEvo :
Having seen one up close and personal; all I will say is you don't want to crash in one.
In reply to Tom1200 :
So let's run through the forests at 120mph with one, on two hours of sleep in the previous 48!
Rallys in the Group B era were much more grueling. Up to five days long with only one overnight rest halt.
I still want to see this movie even if it will be ultimately disappointing.
The original title was better I think.
Worth a watch nonetheless just because very interested in themantic content,
but real life is hard to beat.

The same guy also had a Lancia Stratos Stradale, BMW M1, Alfa Romeo SZ, Porsche 924 Carrera GT, and Mercedes 190E 2.5-16 Evo II ... which is how we met.
I'm a huge 2.3-16 nerd and he reached out to me through the 190E community looking for help. My mind was blown when I visited his garage. All the coolest homologation specials.

Just watched it. Pretty good, but turn off your "that's not what really happened" part of your brain and just enjoy that non car people might enjoy it as well.

Yes, I am aware; forgot to put "sold" in quotes.
Somehow even though they are unsafe and potentially dubious quality, still one of the coolest cars ever.
If I were wealthy, I'd be all over a Kimera 037. Until then, I'm just dreaming.
