Something else to add to the conversation: factory NB Roadster hardtop. (Although is it still a roadster?)

We’ve discussed them before: Have you met the Roadster Coupe, Mazda’s Japan-only hardtop NB Miata?

I still think this is the most beautiful, desireable car that Mazda has ever made.

I would second that emotion.

You'd be right, if Mazda had never made the FD...

Still surprised BRG didn’t become a standard NA color for the U.S. market since it did so overseas.

Not just overseas, but right next door in Canada.

I don't think the NB will ever be quite as collectible as the NA. It's just not the icon. It's like the difference between this

and this.

The NA is the purest form of expression of the Miata. Even in this forum, it's assumed that "Miata" means an early car even though it could be a 2024 model. It's got the iconic pop-ups, it has the cleanest dash design (in the 1.6), it was the car that brought 2 seater convertibles back to the market. The NC is also not likely to become very collectible as it's not a significant car and saw very little variation over roughly a decade of production. The collectibility of the ND will depend on what happens next. It may be celebrated as the last of a certain type of sports car.

I wouldn't because leaving cars stock is BORING.

Hell I ran across a supercharger kit for CX-5 yesterday...........the better half wasn't interested in me doing anything to her vehicle.

As I recall, the stock leather seats in the BRG Miata didn’t seem to age well. (I could be totally wrong here.)

A thought I had at one time: black seats from the standard Miata in the BRG’s tan interior. Figured that would reduce the sea of tan, too.

This is true, though the cloth seats of the same era don't do all that much better.  I was proud that mine had the original seats in great condition up until last year when I finally wore a hole through the driver's seat.  I just recovered mine with real aftermarket leather and while a purest can tell its not stock, it's close enough.  The aftermarket leather is much higher quality and smells better, too.  Interestingly, no one makes good replacement cloth stock Miata seat covers despite what would seem like a large market so it's actually easier to keep leather seats.

The sea of tan is kind of the point.  I also replaced the top with a tan one, which I think it always should have had.

Yeah, odd that no one makes cloth seat covers. I still have my originals.

Mazda leather is not durable at all. It's not just the BRG, it's all like that - including the ND. The cloth covers last significantly longer.

I've seen black seats in a tan interior. It's not attractive. Tan seats on black carpet, on the other hand, is good. We have a shop car like that. I'll get pics.

This has black floor mats so it's pretending to have black carpet. If I was building it again, I might do black carpet.

Why couldn't they get them right side up for the photo? Gives me an eye twitch. And line them up with the valve stems cheeky
