Cleaning the garage, probably halfway done. Much trash and scrap going away, things getting ebayed, and trying to make the room I have work. Need to keep motivated, so posting pictures for public record that it’s getting done to keep myself accountable
pics start below, having serious issues with the upload utility
Note: photos not intended for public shaming
All 4 pics are the same. Not sure if that's the joke, or if its a posting error.
In reply to ProDarwin :
Upload error i think, i was taking them as I went. I tried taking them first then uploading from photo album and that worked
Repeat after me: The car is not a shelf, The car is not a shelf, the car is not a shelf! ;-)

Keep it up!
And let me know if you happen upon a derelict FSAE chassis under there somewhere...
Progress, have not seen this countertop for years
Thank you for posting those Pics,
Was going to clean my Shop,
I think I will Take the Day Off.
I thought my garage was cluttered before I bought my shed. I was wrong!
I can officially see the entire floor between the air compressor and the corvair. Then i told john brown he could come by sunday and pick up a car so i started stripping the drivetrain out of it
i even put the cover on my breaker box, that’s been sitting on the floor for a couple years since i added a new circuit for the tig welder.
Going back out to box some ebay sales, that will make more room. I’m going to have to fight with myself to put things away daily instead of letting it get to be a black hole.

None of that but there is a motorcycle hanging from the rafters in the back corner that i would love to find a new owner for
also in an awesome decision i called the scrap guy who tows the garbage cars for my buddy’s towing company and sold him a truck for scrap. I would put up pictures of the yard but that’s embarrassing right now.
As you already know your thread and encourage me to clean my shop finally tonight. I see parts of the top of my workbench for the first time since I started the last challenge car. Keep inspiring me please!

I started the task today of not cleaning the whole mess up, but rather just trying to organize my nits, bolts, screws, washers, nails etc. I've had what amounts to a pile of hardware, so at least it was all in one place, but it was right between my drill press and band saw and just a few feet from my belt sander, so everything was covered in wood dust. Not finished, but finished for tonight on that project.
Baby steps.
I took the big stupid fastener pile, put it in a bucket, and dumped it into the bed of the truck that the scrap man is coming to get. Then i went to rural king and reloaded the bolt bin with shiny new organized stuff.
Also found 5 catalytic converters that i was hoarding, ebayed 4 of them. Shipping those out in the morning. I scrapped several accessory drive setups i’ll never use, and next on the ebay block is a transfer case that i will never need that I bought when i was thinking about making my 2wd truck a 4x4. I now have shelf space that is unoccupied. That’s a good feeling.
I’m hoping to add on next summer and make the 26x32 into 36x52 with a 2 story tall area for a lift. That would allow me to get everything of importance inside, make the work area not storage, and move some of the big bulky tools like the tire machines, blast cabinet, parts washer and compressor out of the work area. Have some crap to pay off before i can do that, i made a poor decision last year(spend $5000 on an awesome enclosed trailer) and then my work trailer fell apart on the road so i had to buy another trailer($3000) so i racked up some bills.
Holy poo, I see concrete!!! Nice work Pat.
Those gto spares for skinnies?
But of course, the 17x4 gto spares match the 17x11 grand sport wheels quite nicely.
work. Trying to do something every night, tomorrow I’m going to make my guys help get rid of trash and scrap. I think my aluminum pile might be up to $200 and there’s an easy 80 pounds of brass.

If you find any balls in that pile you might want to keep them handy for Darth Nader.
Looks great. Making great progress.
I need to do the same. Here in the cold months things tend to go the garage but little comes out or goes away.

Scrap day is my favorite. Dunno why. I got once or twice a year and tend to get $15-20 each time.
Probably not even worth my time but I like the idea that the metal will get used again.

I don't have pics, but I spent an hour cleaning up the shop on Sunday and it is amazing how much better it feels in there. I can almost pull a car in again. Tools I had been piling on my rolling cart finally went back to the toolbox. Shoved stuff back up in the loft where it belonged (Christmas storage mainly).
I then proceeded to swap brake pads on all four corners of my wife's SUV in less than an hour. Everything was where it needed to be, so there was no fumbling for supplies or tools.
My only regret is not having cleaned up sooner.
I need to go after the driveway tonight. Looks like Sanford and son out there.
