2016 Caprice cop car...got cop motor, cop shocks...

Waiting to get on I-75 this morning, local 'burg police car pulled next to me and slightly ahead. I thought I saw a Caprice emblem, but thought they went extinct some years ago, and this was clearly new. I wasn't crazy after all. (At least not for this.)

These have been around for a couple years now. Not sure how wide-spread they are though.

You realize this is like the 5th thread on these right?

They don't seem to be popular. All I ever see are Dodge Chargers, Ford Explorers and occasionally a Ford Taurus. Lots of Crown Vics still running around too.

Plenty of them throughout NJ. The unmarked cars are super bland and sneaky.

Of course, why else would I start one?

lol! Yeah, these are on "my list" of things to buy or look at buying if something catastrophic happens to the Forte.

I believe they're more or less the Chevy SS.

Pretty much, but they are down about 60 hp from the SS: Official specs.

I thought these were bigger than the SS.

That power should be easy to get back.

They have always been. The Impala is the front-driver.

Pfff, my local cop car is a freaking BMW. Sneaky as hell.

Our sheriffs have the Caprice, they sound pretty awesome when they jump on it

Just noticed one yesterday on I80. Never noticed Illinois State Police driving them before. Usually they are driving the Fords or SUVs. I like the fender flairs.

Local police have a few of these. In black. Good looking cars.

Hmmmmm....

Almost all the Illinois State Police highway patrolmen have one. They are almost all I see anymore, especially on I-57. Occasionally you'll see an Impala, Crown Vic, Expedition, or unmarked Tahoe, but I mostly see the Caprice.

the Chevy dealer the next town over had a 2011 model for sale with 20,000 miles on it a couple of years ago. so they've been around since at least then.. it was really cool- basic radio, rubber floor mat instead of carpet, black steel 17" wheels with center caps, and boring silver paint that made the car really blend in with the row of Impalas that it was parked in. the only thing that made me even notice it as i drove by was the spotlight and wheels.

I think only police type agencies can purchase these. Seen several go thru the salvage auctions fairly cheap considering the LS engine thats in it. Wonder how difficult and how expensive parts and body panels for this model are? Do they share anything from other models.

They're a G8 GT, that's a better summary. They both run the AFM 6.2L. See them quite frequently, the New York State Trooper barracks brings them to us for maintenance. They drive pretty nice but they have a lot of hard miles on them. Wanted to see what one would do once, so I really stood on it, thought the transmission was coming through the floorboards at me.

some civilians figured out how to buy them brand new.. just gotta talk to the guy at the dealership that sells to commercial fleets and have them figure it out for you..

Most highway patrol cars here are holden commodore's. Look familiar?

Here's the falcon, because you need 800hp to catch bad guys...

Town I live in has one Corvette cop car, the rest are Dodge Chargers and Ford Expeditions. The larger adjoining town uses similar Chargers and Expeditions with a few older Crown Vic's and one new Roush Mustang pursuit vehicle. Local Highway Patrol also has a Mustang GT that cruises the local highways, very subtly marked.

Fun fact, when I was strongly considering an SS, I found out that Chevy will sell you a kit to "Holden-ize" your SS for $200. It's a grille, rear badge, and wheel center caps. If I'd ended up with one, I'd have done it.
