Read the review, the Dart still sounds very promising. I'm waiting to see one in their Long Term fleet, but until then this review sounds like they like it.

I would like to see GRM's take on it. I'm liking this car more and more.

Man, I got excited reading about all the aluminum they used in the suspension, so I went hunting for the curb weight. 3200 lbs?!?!?

I was supposed to be on that launch, but got switched to the Mini Roadster instead. I think I came out ahead...

In reply to steronz:
3200 for a (as far as I can tell)very big compact car is pretty good.
Bet if they didn't use aluminium it would have been closer to 34-500.
I'm liking the positive reviews, I'm still annoyed at the people who keep crying about the name Dart being used, and I REALLY hope Fiat/Chrysler offers that 1.4 as a crate engine.
I'm having thoughts of a tigershark powered Omni and drooling a little. I also bet that motor would be tits in an old Fiat roadster.
E: OOOH, 1st gen ACR Neon with a 1.4 and 6 speed stick swap.

I must be a masochist to keep reading the comments people leave.

You get pleasure from negative comments?

Does anyone even make a 2-door coupe anymore? Like an actual coupe, not a fast back hatch?
The Alfa it's based on weighs 2987 lbs. is the car really that big? A quick check shows the focus between 3000 and 3100 lbs. I guess that's normal for the segment. The dart sound ok I guess. Needs more 2.4 turbo.

BMW does...
Yes, yes they do, but does anyone else?

Pretty sure I got all the hatchbacks out of there, these should be trunkified only.
I see a Mazda grille and Nissan headlights.
I kinda like the looks of it but I don't buy new cars so my opinion doesn't really count.
That and, after a couple lovely experiences with Chrysler quality, I've learned my lessons.

Isn't it sad that we are more worried about Chrysler quality than Fiat? It is also kinda sad that people "out there" in the "real world" are looking at it the other way.. feeling that Fiat might drag Chrysler's quality down?
BTW, I think Hyundai is bringing the Elantra coupe to the US next year.

Ok, so why are people complaining about another 4-door sedan coming out?

Because it's ONLY a 4 door sedan. No coupe version.
The Neon had a wildly successful coupe version.
How about making a cool two door of the Dart and calling it the Demon or Duster?

Well yes, that would be cool. I'm just tired of everyone harping on this car before it hits the market.
I guess I am one of the few on this board rooting for this car to be successful.
I want it to be successful. We need more small fun to drive cars on the road and less SUVs. The way things are going, I sometimes wonder why I even bother with a small car. I can't see E36 M3 when driving

My Chrysler products (2001 and 2011) have been utterly reliable. Seriously. Bordering on the most reliable I've ever owned, and yes, I've owned a good Civic.

I'm excited for the Dart! And just because it's not launching with a Coupe (or hatch, or SRT, or...) doesn't mean one's not in the pipeline.
I hope this car is a huge success, and I think it will. I'm not going to whine because it doesn't have 400 hp or come with two lambo doors. They are offering 3 engine options at launch. How many cars do that? It comes with a real honest-to-God manual trans and a nice manu-matic. It's about 3200 lbs, too bad it's not the 1200 some folks think is can be
We have a car company that has gone through a clueless, hamb-fisted owner after being raped by a German one. They should have been down and out long ago. There should be tens of thousands out of work by now. Instead, we have a company opening up plants that were closed, filling the empty cubes at the world headquarters rapidly, offering a 600+ HP V-10 car with a race-car released at the same launch. Now they roll out a fresh-looking car on a european-inspired platform that promises to to deliver on some pretty big promises.
If you wanna hate, knock yourself out. But you owe it to yourself to watch the 60 minutes interview with Sergio, you might just have some faith.
No hate here, I just don't care one way or the other.
I hope it works out for them, it looks like Fiat is doing good things for Chrysler.
I've owned Fiat products and Chrysler products, both were less than stellar but a lot has changed in 20 years.
I don't think 2 years of good service counts as "reliable" yet, more like "it hasn't broken under warranty" which is what should be expected of any new purchase.
My FIL has a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 which is one of the most babied trucks I've ever seen. It needs a new steering rack already and I'd be surprised if it has hit 100,000 km. I'd be pissed if it were mine.
