My miata intake manifold has a thick layer of oil/carbon in the runners and i'm looking for ideas on how to clean it. Machine shop guy says the hot tank will destroy the aluminum. I'm thinking soak in kero and try to hose out with hot water. Machine shop guy suggested buying carb cleaner (not the spray stuff, the rebuilding type cleaner) but it's expensive and i'm worried it might be too strong. Any ideas??
Any of the solvents mentioned, or gas, then cleaned up with castrol super clean, or any of the no-name purple cleaners. Works great on aluminum.
Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I'm going to pick up some brushes tomorrow and see what I can accomplish.
