I saw that on their email this morning... so hot. I'd like to see some more photos of the driver as well.
I like how they mention that the American Racing wheels are Japanese manufactured so the JDMYoBois don't have an aneurism.
Like many old Toyotas... I want that.
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that a live-axle car? The IRS GT-S had little box flares, right?
So, nice car, but why would you put this much effort into a live axle car when they put IRS in the same body style? Why not start with the better car? Was this intended to be a drag car?
Still, this thing is really close to my dream of turbo-ing a 3rd-Gen (which is what this is) 22RE Celica GTS or swapping a turbo'ed 22re into a a 1st-Gen Celica.
It's got a Supra rear end, so chances are that it's an IRS car. Whether it's been retrofitted or not, that's the question.
I have seen GTSs without the flares.

Is there another way to tell other than looking at badges? Like if I'm looking at a car on the craigslist with the standard, "84' Toyota, runs gud, $2000 FIRM!!!!!" ad content and a few photos is there a way to tell if I'm looking at a GTS and can't make out the badges?
Not really unless you go look at it in person.
Honestly, the IRS in the GTS isn't anything particularly awesome, not a huge step up from the stick in the ST/GT.
If you want a 3rd gen Celica, what you should be looking for is: Is it in nice shape and not a rust bucket?
Anything else can be fixed.

The rear end is from a first gen Supra which, IIRC, is another stick axle.

The GTS got the flares, the IRS and the Supra seats with the goofy headrests and the inflatable lumbar supports.

Yup! And a live axle that is particularly live, too. Mine skittered around like crazy on anything but the smoothest paving. Kept the drive, ummm, entertaining and the limits pretty low.

My bad, i didn't catch that it was a 1st gen Supra rear end. I refuse to acknowledge the existence of the 1st gen Supra. They're so awful.
I believe it is a solid axle car... RA64 - non GTS RA65 - GTS
odd as it might sound... there are FAR more suspension upgrades available for the live axle then the IRS.
$6 grand isn't too extreme....
the 1st gen Supras were live axle... with SOME(disc brake equipped) 7.5" R&P(MUCH stronger), where the original Celica R&P would have been the 6.7"
In for creeper shots.

Awfully delightful. Like sardines and boxed wine.

Sardines and boxed wine is at least delicious in some form.
1st gen Supras only make me happy because they paved the way for the first Supra that counts, then MKii.
