My sixth grate teacher had a C3 and a foot tall stack of Corvette magazines on his desk. When I finished my work I could read them. That year is a big part of what made me a car guy and I still want a C3.

When I first started autocrossing, Fast Phil Currin was driving a C3, an '69 427 if I remember right. This was his Trans Am car:

With that car, you would know exactly what condition the frame is in before you got it home. At least that's what I keep telling myself.
A car like that would bankrupt you if you were to foolishly attempt to restore it, but if you didn't give a rat's ass about originality, you could probably turn it into something fun.
Also, those fat Cragars would be perfect.
I used to hate C3 Vettes, but for some reason have come around more to them over the last few years. There is a huge supply in my area, even my neighbor has one, but this isn't it. this one is for sale: http://kansascity.craigslist.org/cto/4453717594.html
And here is a 4 speed: http://kansascity.craigslist.org/cto/4456977500.html
A lot of car for the money and pretty easy to keep running I'm sure. A lot to like.

Wanna know what's really weird? My 6th grade teacher also had a C3 Vette! He had a red 1982. He was one of the first people outside my family that I ever could talk cars with. I remember having a long conversation about the Dodge Neon concept car (this was 1993-94) and how he was going to buy one for a daily driver.
My 6th grade teacher bought a new Vette the year I was in his class. It was a 73, and he told me it was a 6 week wait time because he needed an automatic transmission. I used to taunt him because by that time I could already drive a stick, and made sure that he knew my Dad would kick his ass in his 4 spd Z28

That 80 4 speed is too close for comfort. I'm going to assume the frame is trashed so I don't buy it.

I'd prefer to buy a cheap one with a bad frame and put an aftermarket frame under it. But my ideal in that case would be a C1 or C2.

I would love for that to be a thing for next year. I would be sorely tempted to play.
Use challenge rules. Bring to the challenge. Convince the GRM powers that be to sanction the C3 as the 2015 "Featured Marque". Winner receives a special award of large amounts of cooked noodles.
Yea! Everybody knows where there is at least 1 derelict fiberglass tuna boat a sitting.
Optispark Challenge
My high school math teacher drove a bright yellow C4. She also favored black leather miniskirts and tall heels and was quite a disciplinarian. The imagination ran wild.

However, I did not develop an interest in Corvettes until I witnessed a bone stock C5 Z06 destroy the entire field of tuned four cylinders in the Superfour Challenge at Car and Driver.
