I've heard this a bunch of times, but I haven't seen one in person yet. Thus, I'm still fully unimpressed. Too clunky.

Exactly. It seems the purists are very short or narrow sighted. If Porsche only built 911's they'd eventually go out of business or get bought out by some other manufacturer......oops, they did.
But everything I've read says that the SUV was such a hit that it afforded the the moolah to pour development into the sports cars. AND, if a company like Porsche decided to build an SUV or a minivan or something like that I'd rather they develop the car on their own as opposed to buying another existing car and slapping the shield on it.
The money will be short term, and yes I consider however long the Cayenne has been on offer to be "short term."
It's just another step by Porsche in becoming "Just Another Car Company," (JACC) instead of a "sports car maker." For another example of what happens when a car company abandons its soul, see "Toyota."

I didn't think Asian car companies had soul to begin with? /sarcasm
I love the Panameras, especially after seeing a few in person. I would totally rock one if I had the funs and wanted a grocery getter/daily driver/soccer mom wagon. It's even my new favorite car to rock in Forza 3 lol.
As far as the Accord Crosstour goes.....it's still not a cheap option, I think after dealer fees and all the other nonsense they come out close to 40k. And they are ass ugly, at least the ZDX or whatever the Acura version is called looks sleek and somewhat decent, which also sets it apart from the rest of the new Acura lineup
I have to say, I wasn't at all impressed with the Panamera until I saw Hammond and May in it on TG.
When Wally comes up with the funding for "Top GRM America" and I am cast as Johza I will own one.

I just saw one for the first time, driving down the street while I was out for lunch - I agree, it looks a lot better in person than I expected it would.

FTW!!!! Put me in the 'it's an ugly overpriced POS designed only to show off excessive discretionary income' opinion category.
"If I had the funds..."
I mean, really? I suppose if you had money to blow, but c'mon. If a car in this price range fit within your discretionary spending budget, you would really compare it to other cars that are similar in price/function and choose the Porsche? Think it through.
A lot of people say they'd "hit it," but when you really start thinking about laying down your own money, these assertions are meaningless.
I really like porsches in general and lament the loss of my boxster.. but when I first saw the panamera I couldn't help but think chrysler
come on!
It is growing on me though esp. after reading reviews and seeing videos of the turbo...
I saw another one today. It was white and very hot. I tell you, they are growing on me more and more. Even my wife liked it.
Maybe I'm just finally "too old". I actually kind of like the way the car looks, but for 75K, I'd buy three perfect BMW E9s.
Or maybe ten good 944s.

...or add a garage "in back" for my "weekender" 911 (Pre-964) and keep an M3 for a daily (for example).
I have seen three so far and I am in the "it looks better in person" camp. I do think it looks better with the spoiler up though.
As far as buying one, I would have a hard time choosing it over a 4 door Maser.
Solidly in the "fugly" camp. I don't think the rear is "huge" or disproportionate, I think it's just out and out ugly. Is it a wagon? Well then make it look like a berkeleying wagon. Square off the rear a little. Get rid of the dopey, swooshy, "Um, yeah, it's, uh, just a 'long' 911" rear 1/4 glass, or continue it all the way to the rear and still ditch the "swoosh."
Is it supposed to look like a late 40's sedan? Well then make it berkeleying look like one. Pronounce the fenders a little more, shrink the ginormous fishbowl rear window, and give it a big, horkin' trunk.
I think the Volvo C30 is berkeleying hot...particularly the ass end. I don't think adding another pair of doors would make it any less hot.
I'd say the Pagani Zonda is the J-Lo of the car world. Huge ass, but it matches the rest of the body.
Now if you wanna talk big butts that just come out of nowhere, the Ferrari California has to take the prize:
If I'm going to drop 150k I'd rather have something italian - although I think I like the trunk version a little better than the fastback.
It's tough to really draw any similarities between the two with the evidence provided thus far. All we have is Porsche pics. If there were some pics in this thread of J-Lo's rump, well then I could offer my opinion. However, I like the Porsche...

Good point. I'd just kill them if I had no place to keep em.
