Coming from a 12 X 16 shop, I always thought a 26 X 26 shop would be big enough. Boy was I wrong. I've still got 25 pounds of E36 M3 in a 10 pound sack.
The cleaning has started again. This time it's going through some major changes because I want to be able to get the Jeep and the Abomination in there.
Today we made a hell of a mess.

It's about 50% done, and I'll finish it tomorrow and Sunday.
Too bad the contest is over.
I have the same size shop, but you have far more “big boy tools” than I do. However, my wife somehow confiscated the west wall shelves for cleaning supplies and the lawn mower... be ruthless about what you keep. If you haven’t used it in a year, sell it.
For instance, that giant black and brown speaker cabinet. I would get rid of. Switch to a much smaller, Bluetooth speaker that can fit anywhere. After all, how much loud do you need when wrenching in a small shop?
i don’t know where you live, but that huge fan could (maybe) leave, since I notice a wall AC unit
and that large turbocharger? Well, you could sell it to me.
I’ve gone back and forth in my head so many times on the topic of garage space. One side says “more room would be great”, and then the other side says “yeah right, to fill with a bunch of E36 M3”.
Good luck in your efforts!
The big speakers are used. I usually listen to the music pretty loud when I'm out there by myself. It was off the top shelf and on the floor so I could move the shelf. It has already made it back to the top shelf and been hooked up.
The huge fan stays outside year round so it's not an issue.
The turbocharger may actually be moving along soon. It came off a 81 Trans Am originally and was bought for a Chevelle project I no longer own.
Edit: There is actually two turbochargers in that picture. One on the speaker ad one by the black bag on the ground. The one on the ground came off the Trans Am, the one on the speaker came from a MQ-1 Predator Drone.
What's really killing me is large tools.
Mill , lathe, table saw, wood band saw, metal band saw, two welders, sheet metal machine, blast cabinet, tire machine, balancer, press, all of which need room to store and to use. Everything that can be on wheels is, but it's still a pain to figure out where to put all of them.
I'm pretty sure I need a 40 X 100.

Having filled up an empty 8800 sq-ft building in 5-years, in some ways size doesn't matter.
You have too much E36 M3.
On top of that, not enough of that E36 M3 is on wheels.
Man I thought my mess was bad.....at least i can park the 'V' in the grosh....barely

The Abomination is usually in here. I have it stuck in the front garage while I'm cleaning the shop. The plan is for most of this to go back in, as well as the Abomination and the Cherokee. It's looking like I may actually pull it off.
I'm under the impression that it is not -5 in Ville-de-Toyman.

No, the high today is 58. Perfect cleaning weather.
Progress has been made this morning, though it's hard to tell.

Tman, is your air compressor hard piped or do you drag the hose around? I spy floor space.....

I feel your pain... so much. I had plans for doing some garage cleaning today (despite the sub-freezing temps) while doing an oil change on the minivan. Unfortunately, Ma-Nature had other plans and decided to dump 3" of snow on us in Philly. At the next opportunity, my decrepit blasting cabinet is going to the curb. It was half-shot when I got it as payment for loaning my engine hoist and I haven't touched it since. So it's nothing more than in the way.
I have just about everything on wheels, but my way of keeping my garage somewhat usable is by storing things in other places: tools and parts in my attic; more parts in my basement; still more parts in my shed. If I didn't have the secondary storage spaces, there definitely wouldn't be room for two cars in a 1.5 car garage.
Do you have the acreage/money to build a dedicated wood/machine shop for the big machinery? I'm starting to balkanize/compartmentalize parts of my life and it seems to be working.

That is my goal: a shop to do body work and woodworking with greasy work kept to my garage.

I'm giving up my 30x40 (plus loft and 2 outbuildings) for a 24x26.
Ill let you know how it turns out.
Well, today was pretty successful. Progress...

The Jeep fits and with a little shuffling, the Abomination should as well.

Now to get the work benches cleared.
Lathe is as clean as it has been in a year. Mill is mostly clean. Work bench and desk are 75%. Not perfect, but good enough.
East wall,

West Wall.

North Wall.

South Wall.

This is the hole. Not a good place to be.

That's it, I'm done for a while. I'm sure it will be destroyed again soon.
