Wait, when did they start making 2-3" Prius lift kits

If Tom hadn't just gotten an Element, I'd have a suggestion for the strangest project...

I don't have a 3" lift on my Jeep.

I have a weird affinity to lifted cars. Even cars that I only hold disdain for in their OE configuration. Baja all the things is a group on the book of faces that always gets my attention.

1.5" lift cheaper...

Looking at those strut mount spacers, I bet that they could be used with the coilovers to compromise all the suspension geometry! I legit love the photos on their website. I would rock a lifted Prius.

Dang. So, who here has already ordered a kit from them?

It crossed my mind. I have a spare Prius??

I happened to find that site after seeing this posting on GRM.  The site also says that after this 1.5" addition, you can mount larger tires too going up another 3 inches of tire which should result in another 1.5" of lift.

1.5" of lift struts and 1.5" at tire a 3" lift should be quite noticeable.  This would probably be hard on mpg but could be a big plus on the rough road of Metro Cleveland!

Wasn't there a lifted Prius on Jalopnik awhile ago where the owners actually found it pretty decent?

On a different tact, suddenly I'm seeing Flex fuel emblems on Prius's and several other Toyota's. Are they just doing it for the lower prices or do you need the extra power too?

I run real winter tires on the snow and the Prius feels unstoppable. The weight distribution is good with engine front and battery over the rear axle.

The internet tells me the weight distribution is:

Gen2 Prius 59:41

Gen3 Prius 51:49

I have been told that the traction control in the Prius is very reluctant to actually give you any power in extremely slippery conditions, and that it cannot be disabled.  That doesn't sound like a great choice for a lifted/offroad vehicle to me...

I've done the pedal dance in our company 3rd gen Prius to make it up our driveway with traction control off, it wasn't easy to do but on the third or fourth try it took and I made it.

Provided there is traction with good tires these things go through the snow very well in a very predictable way. When the ABS does kick in though you immediately lose the regenerative braking which can be unnerving. I've done a 13 hour drive (normally 8 hours) into Quebec (right past where the snowmobile was invented) through a snow storm and with most of it on highways it was probably better than my Legacy wagon. In the deep stuff the Leggy is obviously better but for hour after hour through 2" deep stuff the Prius was just planted and predictable in a boring way that is good on trips like that.

I'm "stuck" in Colorado for the summer and was wishing I had a 4wd to try some trails.

Realistically, putting this lift on the 2012 Prius V that I drove here would get me to most of the trails I'd try.
