It's bad enough on big trucks, but I think it looks even worse on cars.  Lexus, I'm talking to you....

I guess I just have a hard time coming to terms with how big modern trucks really are I suppose. I still think of my K1500 as "big."

Judging by the probable tire size of this truck, the bed sides must be 60"+ off the ground. It's amazing how much deficiency and inconvenience people will put up with in the name of vanity.

What’s funny is that the truck in the picture is a Crew Cab, Short Bed, 3/4 Ton 4x4, the most common HD truck purchased, because Bob down the street has a 10 mile commute, picks the kids up from school, and went off-roading at the local park to drop off the coolers for the kids soccer game. He’s also never towed a thing in his life.

These are the people buying the majority of Diesel HD trucks, so yes, vanity will come before practicality and also why these trucks start at $60k.

to be fair.. with the size of new trucks, I am betting the "upside down face" is mandated by law. You can only have the headlights so far off of the ground.

At least on big trucks they're sort of in line with what tractor trailers have, started by the previously mentioned '90s Rams.  Brodozer dudes like their trucks to be mini-Kenworths.  Still say they're much worse on cars.  Case in point....

Or you could go to the opposite extreme....this is a face that not even a mother can love...

The LC500 wears the Predator grill okay compared to other models. I'd still say it's better than Acura's chrome beak phase.

The Model 3 makes me think of that scene in The Matrix where Smith seals Neo's mouth.

A to the Men.  Cars, trucks, SUVs...they're all disgusting.  I bought my '3' partly because it was one of the few compact cars that wasn't trying to mimic some other car *cough* Hyundai *cough* or would make me look like a boy racer *cough* Honda *cough*.

I feel bad for making fun of the 3rd gen Rams now, and I usually never feel bad about picking on Chrysler.

So my  dad still has an 01 which is the generation that changed the truck world with BIG RIG STYLING etc but looking at that thing today I just think "man, this thing has no hard edges, it's curvy, and it's a lot smaller than all the current trucks" which is a total paradigm shift from 'the 1994 Dodge Ram is beefiest mf'ing truck on the market with BIG RIG STYLING'. lol

In 1994, I was 13 and I had this poster on my bedroom wall:

It was nothing I had ever seen before. I feel like it kicked off the "big rig" styling trend in modern pickups.

I had that EXACT same poster on my bedroom wall in 1994.  And I was 17 at the time.

Styling by Wurlitzer is common on all trucks these days. Local Ford salesman couldn't tell me if I could get high level trim with the Ford F150 work truck predominantly black front end. When he asked why ,I told him all the chrome front ones were butt ugly. He didn't seem impressed.......

You just insulted his cash cow! lol.

I'm pretty sure that headlight height is what drove Ford to move to turn signals on top.

In all fairness,  if Ford could aim their truck headlights so as to not blind everyone and actually put some light on the road they probably could have left them wherever on the front of the truck.  Ford truck headlights are so bad that they should be forced to use sealed beams again for a decade or so until they can figure it out.

The good news about the Chebrolet is that there's probably a factory in China already tooling up to make poorly fitting but better looking aftermarket grilles.

Unfortunately the new Aluminum Super Duty’s almost have too much light. The non LED head lights use all 4 headlights, which are all low beams, but still, they suck coming from the other direction.

Pretty sure there are requirements for maximum headlight height.  Also pretty sure that many brodozers violate these rules when they jack their trucks up to high heaven, and then proceed to blast me in the rearview mirror.  All lifted vehicles ought to be mandated to keep their headlights at the maximum allowable height.  And aftermarket LED/HID lights ought to be a jailable offense.

If you flip the front end upside down, it's actually much more tolerable.

I actually really like the LC500 front end. As well as the rest of it. Saw one in person and it's a great-looking car.

I think what bothers me the most about the Chevy's design is the lack of coherence. It's like the designers started designing the back and sides, got bored and took a bunch of acid, then ended up at the front when they were full-on tripping.

I frequently dismiss the appearance of vehicles as secondary to its utility, I'm perfectly ok driving something ugly that gets the job done for the right price.  It's still ugly though, maybe they'll be cheap?

Highly doubt it. Most 1500s are in the $45-55K range and we've had a number come through the shop in the $60-70K range.
