Sixty years ago today, Ford revealed the Mustang at the New York World’s Fair. Since then there’s been seven generations of Mustang.

Which variety is your favorite? The classic first generation? The rad fox-body Mustangs? Or perhaps, you love the S197?

Either way, there are celebratio…

Since I've gotten older, I really think the earlier S197s have aged pretty well. It's hard to beat a well-sorted, first-gen fastback, though.

I have a soft spot for hatchback fox-body Mustangs but the 03-04 Cobras are also high on my list.

I'm inclined to agree:

But my all time favorite is still probably the 85-86 "4 Eye" Fox body:

My favorite is the 1970 Torino Cobra-Jet.

But if I had to buy a hairdresser car cheeky, it would be the 1970s big Mustang.

The original still wins on style and character, even though the new ones admittedly keep getting better, sleeker, faster, safer, more efficient, etc.

I loved my 5.0L 1985 GT!  The fit and finish were horrible, the clutch disintegrated after a few months, the heater core started leaking soon afterward, but I could overlook all that because it was a sweetheart to drive!  We thought it was ridiculously overpowered at the time.  Today, its "awesome" 210 hp is weaker than even the basic entry-level models.

I'm a bit biased, but I love my Fox Bodies.  85 T-Top Hatch and 93 SSP Coupe

Foxbody

I was thinking about it this morning, a huge part of who I am is a direct result of Mustangs, and that all started 29 years ago when my dad bought that foxbody

Same.  One of my earliest formative memories is Dad opening up the door to a storage unit, me seeing the front clip (same bumper that is on my Tan car now) of the 79 Mustang he had, followed by the first time I had ever heard a rowdy, uncorked, cammed up V8 as he fired it up and pulled it out.

Some things tend to stick with you.

1979-93 Fox Body cars will always be my favorite. Specifically the 1985-86 Four Eyes GT and the 1987-93 cars, especially in Calypso Green on Pony wheels.

Perfection.

First gen pre-65/66 cars have got to be one of the most beautiful cars ever. Especially the gt350. The new GT350 is also up there in looks at one of the greatest v8s ever. Also a fAn of post-87 fox bodys and the new edge terminator cobra with the IRS.

We had an '03 GT convertible which we truly loved, but had to sell it to "get practical" for a while......which all led, eventually, to my rediscovery of the Z32 Nissan. All related in some way.

If I had to pick one, hard to look away from a 5.0 LX coupe in tan with, of course, a five-speed and 10-hole wheels.

´69 and ´70 Boss variants and Mach 1 being the top choice. Next would be early 80's SVO Mustangs.

Fun fact: Ford Mustang was first introduced in Finland, Jyväskylä on 12th April -not something that Ford planned smiley

It looks the most like a classic mustang, yet modern enough to have all the dependability and features we've come to expect.

That's what my avatar is, but with TRX wheels -not that you can tell really.

First new car my mom ever bought was a '65  coupe with a 289 and a 3-speed. That's the car I learned to drive with. She also bought a new '72 Mustang fastback with the 351 HO and a toploader 4-speed.

I've had 3 foxbodies and now have 2 S197s which are probably my favorite of the bunch. (Although a '66 fastback can look fantastic).

I helped my daughter buy a really nice '06 last year, which is really fun when she lets me drive it. I like them all, with several on the wish list (old and new Boss 302, my uncle's black '65 convertible, a new Dark Horse).

But my favorite is the 1970 Mach 1 Twister Special. Only 96 made, I'll take the 428 Super Cobra Jet Ram Air, please.
