Jeez!
It only took the NASCAR wizards 10 years to create/allow a good looking DP.
Whats next? Ferraris and Porsches in the Prototype class?

The new Vettes look cool. Why the change? Smaller green houses. If I remember correctly, the original DP cars have big greenhouses as per the rules to give the drivers more room. The thought was that "gentlemen" drivers would prefer a roomier cockpit that offered a bit more space/protection.
The Daytona Prototypes have been some of the ugliest cars in pro racing for the better part of a decade. It'll be an easier sell to fans now that our team car doesn't look like a doorstop.
I'm curious to know how the new exotics will mix with the traditional GT Class front runners. The field will have everything from pony cars to mid-engine supercars:
Audi R8
BMW M3
Chevrolet Camaro GT.R
Chevrolet Corvette
Dodge Viper Comp Coupe
Ferrari 458 Italia
Ford Mustang GT
Mazda RX-8
Porsche 911 GT3
Also, this is why the Roar Before the Rolex is so cool--you have killer access to the cars, teams and drivers. Plus the cars look cool without stickers.
I thought the large greenhouse was to allow for a two-seater. Some long-long connection to the driver+mechanic days.

And yeah, GT is going to be neat to watch. Right now it's hard to tell who's coming up to speed and who's sandbagging. The new cars do look great in real life, too.

When DP was new, I remember there being some talk about catering the cars to the gentlemen drivers. There was also talk about having room for some signage.
The open-cockpit WSC cars of the '90s were cool, but they were built for pros. Remember, a lot of these cars have traditionally been driven by guys who "bring funding."
They can fit a second seat in a DP, though. I know a guy who once got to go for a ride with Wayne Taylor around Daytona. It was way cool. And those cars can brake like now!
