I suspect there hasn't been a real Jaguar made in over 25 years in his opinion. Not since the V12 was retired.
We've come a long way since "Grace, Space and Pace".
Back then Jaguar was like an affordable Aston Martin. Best illustrated with the last XK and the Aston Martin Vantage, helps that Ian Callum lifted the shape from AM to Jag.
I think BMW is who they competed with recently with their last sedans and SUV, but now they're going further upmarket, who's buyers are they targeting?

I don't really get it, but whatever. I'm not currently in the market for a new Jag and probably never will be.
The thing that always sucks with these type of rebrands are the super condescending replies from the brands in the comments. Yeah, some of the comments were gross or just stupid, but wtf is this?
These read like they are straight up AI.

TBH, everywhere in the world except North America thinks a BMW is just a salesman's car.
how are we 3 pages in and nobody else has this thought:
ontop of their "dont build any new vehicles" strategy

That actually dates to the original XJ. They were competing with BMW/Mercedes, but sexier and more affordable.
I don't know where they're going right now, other than they're counting on the brand to be a significant part of the value equation. That helps you to sell low volume and high profit.
The G represents the ultra brittle plastics used in coolant crossover pipes, while the lowercase letters signify the struggle to access them.

This is part of their new ad campaign. I guess history and tradition are no longer part of Jaguar's brand.
This feels like a "fragrance" ad. Is there a fragrance in the works.?
Copy nothing but somehow the above reminds me of Grace Jones/David Bowie/Annie Lenox/Max Headroom in 80's bright colors
I was thinking more like this. Got to keep that Jaguar theme.

Yaknow, if you're going to make a bold statement about how you won't copy anything (and Grace Jones would like a word, not to mention LeeLoo), then it's kind of on you to not design weird ugly E36 M3.
Skipped right over this thread because I don't care too much about Jaguars and way less about branding, was I ever missing out

I mean, that's the easiest way to not copy anything.
Yesterday I found out that I am eligible for a senior discount at the local pool. Today, this.
I wonder if Matlock is on...
I changed my mind. If Leeloominaï Lekatariba-Lamina-Tchaï Ekbat de Sebat is on board than so am I.
I has a weakness.

High end luxury bathroom fixtures from the look of that logo.
Didn't Moen do something close awhile back?
Sort of Dodge Neon looking too.
So basically their rebrand is bathroom fixtures made by Chrysler?
I think that's not the feel you are going for....

Clearly Jaguar is pivoting from selling cars to selling high end dresses for both men and women.

SNL is going to have a very hard time parodying this. I mean, where do you go to make it seem ridiculous? Sorry, MORE ridiculous.

Every time that group Starburst Flavors photo is posted, I am irresistibly drawn to the man in the far left.
Everyone else kinda looks like they got the memo about what the photoshoot was about (which, I dont get,) but he just looks upset about his haircut.

Yeah, he looks like he's having second thoughts about appearing in this shoot.
They've also released this image which appears to be either a partial rear view of their new car, or a kitchen trash bin with a furnace vent added to the front.

Still kinda looks like an expensive, but mostly useless, bathroom fixture
