Well its coming home with me now.  Gotta get it off the property by January (I'll find out when in January this weekend)

Probably going to be bringing it to my Dad's in North Florida/Gadsden County area, but may be taking it to my Brother's, or Brother In Law's down in Wakulla County, Fl.

Optimal plan would be to get up there to drain fluids and drive it down, but I have absolutely no clue how feasible that is.  Its possible it has no anti-freeze in the system and the block cracked half a decade ago.  I dunno.  I'd have to do tires and other stuff as well, and its gonna be cold in Talladega in January.

Anyone able to help get it down?  Anyone have any ideas on how best to do it?

Since it is 4WD I would put the transfer case in neutral and flat tow it.   Might have to rig up some tow bar mounts on the front.

I had not thought of that one.  Still might be concerning going through the mountains, but it levels out fairly soon on the way back.

Nothing to add in terms of help, but I'll be so excited to see this one come alive. Loved it when you posted it, still think it's so cool.

Since I live in Gadsden County, and half the family live in Wakulla County... somehow this project makes perfect sense.  Any success in getting it out of Alabama?

Normally around here a chain run through a length of pipe is considered adequate towing equipment.  Just saying.

If I had not just had rotator cuff surgery, I'd jump in, but don't think I could do it one armed sadwould be a fun rod trip otherwise.  Good luck!

I am going from the western suburbs of Atlanta to Davenport FL on Jan 2.  Maybe I could pull it, but not sure on my own logistics.  In short, I have my Suburban as well as my 26' Uhaul truck.  Don't own a trailer to pull behind the Suburban and figuring out ramps for the Uhaul.  I can let you know shortly how it all plays out, but no promises.

Aside from some battery and power cable berkeleyery, I really like what I see. Get some heat sleeves for the spark plug wires.

i see a custom dash full of more modern gauges, and a stealthy tilt column with the stock wheel. This truck is seriously cool.
