Given the heat that wheels could get when braking, would JB weld to clean up the curb rash be a bad idea?  Not looking to spend a ton on this car, but I claybared it this weekend, and now the nasty, curb rashed, salt worn wheels stand out really bad.  None of the rash is very deep, but deep enough that sanding wont smooth it out.  I assumed bondo wouldn't handle the heat.

Figured I'd smooth them out, with JB weld in the gouges and toss on some sliver wheel paint to clean them up.

Sounds like a good plan to me. I think it would be more likely that it gets re-damaged as they mount the tires rather than heat. Google says it is good to 500 degrees American, if the lip of your wheel gets there I think the tire would be smoking.

I would try it myself but maybe someone else will pop in with a better solution.

There's a metal reinforced bondo that works great for wheel repair. This stuff:

3M Bondo 90451 Metal Reinforced Filler

Heat from braking isn't going to reach all the way out to the edge of the wheel rim, so I wouldn't be too concerned about that.
