It's actually based off the M715, not the Gladiator, and the M715 had standoff front fender flares and recessed bed sides like the Crew Chief 715

I think it's actually because of the way the fender flares come forward of the vertical grill line. They don't do that on M715, but they do on the Crew Chief, giving a an oddly pinched look to the front. If the hood was extended a couple of inches so that the grill line came down to the front of the flares, I think it would look much better.

A model based off of a model based off of model, that I referenced.
You can see they redid the front a bit, but that 2012 design was originally based off of a Gladiator. It even had the visor in the original remake that the M175 never had. (I believe they all had the flat vertical windshield and no visor.) The fenders look like they are the 2012 design too.
It just looks squished to me. That's all. It reminds me of how they squish car designs to make into a kids pedal car.

I was coming to a similar conclusion about the fenders getting into the front end. I hope they make it and I'm wrong and it looks great in person.
Somebody 'shop it with the grill coming down to the front of the flares. Even without being wider, I'm betting it's a huge difference.
While I love the concepts they've come out with this year, I'm still disappointed that they did not make a Cherokee based concept this year. Not that I'm biased or anything...

It seems like there would be a lot of logistical issues with the steering gear and shifter linkage. Plus you have to work around where the engine ends up.

depends on how much work you wanna do. This FC has an LS and corvette running gear. I saw it last year doing the Good Guys autocross and it was a hoot just to watch, your brain has a hard time understanding how it carves around the track so quickly
I would buy this tomorrow. The fact that the last two Wrangler pickup concepts have had variations of this sheet metal is exciting. I know the crew cab would sell more and is a better business case, but I want the single cab in the worst way.
I don't like the gladiator or m715 front ends. Standard cab with a regular wrangler front end will lift my Chrysler ban.
Also the shortcut and lifted renegade make me happy.
Looks like the Crew Chief actually has some bits from the production truck in it...Confirmation of a 4 door Jeep truck
