I've been shopping around lately for a new-er car in the 15-20k range and usually all I punch in is a price range and manual transmission to see what comes up. I took a test drive in a Fiesta ST and while the internet raves about the car, I honestly had more fun in the 94' Integra I brought to the stealership. Wasn't as quick as I expected, interior quality was pretty low rent, and Im not positive I need something brand new because I'd be tempted to modify it and wreck that warranty.

What I did find was a Nismo Juke. There is also a Nismo Juke RS with awesome recaros, but I bet those will be quite rare. I couldn't find any FWD/Manual jukes nearby to check out, but I did test drive an AWD/CVT car and was quite impressed. It is really small in person, the interior quality was impressive, and of course the looks can be a bit polarizing - Im fine with that. I'm curious if anyone knows the differences between the regular juke and nismo model, and how the engine responds to a tune. I know it won't handle as awesome as the ST, but I've always been drawn to the unique vehicles anyway. On paper they're actually quite similar in weight, 0-60, and fuel economy.

You'll hate me for this comment, but the Juke looks like a frog on steroids - and Fiesta STs are pretty quick autocrossers.

You'll love me for this comment, but I like the Juke. It probably isn't as good a performance model as the Fiesta ST but I am like you. I like different. I would choose the Juke over the ST. I just like 'em. I think we are in a group of two.

I hated how small inside the juke was. I didn't drive it though so I can give any I cant give on on that

Nismo Juke RS has about 20hp over the regular Juke, IIRC slightly lowered and stiffer suspension, and 18" wheels, plus a body kit. I think those are the main differences.

FWIW, in my opinion the Nismo Juke looks way dumber than the regular one.

My fiancee has had a juke for a rental for the last 3 weeks and she's going to be sad to see it go. As for the interior space, it hauled a living room full of bridal shower gifts without issue (except having no visibility once loaded to the gills, but that's every car)

Juke 188hp

Nismo 197hp

Nismo RS 215hp

$26-27,000 seems like a lot of money

Especially since that same money gets you a WRX hatch with 270hp, similar interior space, and less ugly.

I like the juke. Looks great slammed in black.

The nismo rs model must be something damn special for that kind of money though.

+1 on a 3"+ drop on the Juke NISMO

That said, I've heard far to many good things about the Fiesta ST to discourage you from it.

Because they are not selling well there's a lot of room to deal. I have heard $2K-$3K off in some cases.

Not a surprise. Most folks have to look away to keep from getting squeamish. Because ugly. I have some experience with this driving a 242.

But if you don't mind - it's your lucky day. Get 'em cheaper while you still can.

Here's the detail on the differences from one of the car mags - "The Juke Nismo reminds me more of a comprehensive sport package than a separate sporty variant like the Mini Countryman's JCW model. The car utilizes the same turbocharged engine, but gets a reprogrammed ECU that yields an extra 9 hp and 7 lb-ft. Springs are 10 percent stiffer, and other suspension components including dampers and bushings have been revised as well. The car has also been lowered on new 18-inch alloy wheels wearing 225/45-series Continental ContiSportContact5 summer tires, giving it a sportier stance and stickier footprint. Finally, steering has been tweaked to offer more resistance at higher speeds."

Yes, or a WRX/STi.

Can you get a tune/tumer for the standard Juke? Sounds like you could make a "Nismo" juke for much less monies with a better setup and make it your own.

I love the juke personally, but the NISMO/RS sounds overpriced.
