I guess the answer is because they could...
Love what looks like retro 1970s 4x4 rubber fender flares...
This might have been killer in a Maxima body to make it a real 4DSC...

You ask why put a huge engine into a little silly econobox/SUV/thing?
Hi, welcome to the GRM boards We got people stuffing Jag V12s into MGBs and Northstar V8s into MR2s, so yea, this isn't that exciting.
Sigh. If only Nissan would put that kind of effort into something the size of the Versa, they would have a pretty cool little car on their hands.

I don't think the Juke is much bigger than a Versa. They're pretty tiny.
Why? Because Pontiac built a concept Aztek (the reigning ugliest SUV ever) with C5R running gear, so obviously Nissan had to build a Juke (contender for the ugliest SUV ever) with GTR running gear. (Although both concepts look much better than their stock versions).

I......I want to like it.
But I am no fan of the GTR.
The front end is all out of proportion, and what is with the series of oval-holes in lower front "grille"?
But the kicker for me is: The 3-step fender flares.
1 step is great.
2 steps are okay.
3 are way, way too many!
I'm wondering WHY don't they offer that in the dealerships?! LOL Have you been followign the build on youtube? It's awesome!!!

The world is a better place for cars like this. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go work on my LS1-powered MGB with Miata suspension...
I think I like the looks of the Aztevette better than the Juke-R, but the build videos are pretty cool, they've done lots of racecar things like change the seating position and the guages, swapped over the whole GTR instument package into the Juke bezels and such. It certainly is an engineering and car building feat.
