I figure there would probably be plenty available if I just look at full sized trucks and maybe large engined sedans but I wanted to ask before heading up to the junkyard on Thursday.
Need to make an exhaust for my challenge car, so I need some 2.25" diameter exhaust pipe and preferably a good resonator to keep it from being deafening. Are there any specific vehicles that are well-known for having these? Or is it like I guessed in my first sentence, just crawl under a full sized truck and I'll probably be good?
Trucks are more likely to be 2.5-3.0".
A lot of Japanese minivan/cute-ute things have 60mm pipes and resonators that look swap-friendly.
I'm using the exhaust pipes from a 2010 Camaro. IIRC, they're 2.5" OD and have a couple of bullet resonators. Pricing on FB Marketplace can all over the map though. I got two systems, one was "get this outta my Dad's garage" and the other was $75. I've seen some advertised at $400, too. Also search for Charger/Challenger and Mustang systems. After they've sat in the garage for two years the prices come down.
Don't know where you're located, but around here the yards are full of Subarus which have relatively straight exhausts around that size.
If trucks are often 2.5 that'll work as well, since my plan is ultimately to turbocharge the challenge car. Thanks for the answers guys!

They didn't have resonators (unless you can find an SRT4 somehow), but Neons and PT Cruisers all had 2.25" exhaust. I would assume by extension that a lot of other Dodge/Plymouth/Chrysler stuff of that era would have been similarly equipped.

Why not just buy a straight length of aluminized steel 2.25" exhaust pipe and bend it yourself. Been bending my own exhaust systems for years with a decent torch for the heat. Put one end in a pipe vise. Heat where you want it to bend until its cherry all the way around with a larger cherry area on the side that is being stretched ,and start pushing down on the other end of the pipe. Keep moving the heat as you want the bend to continue. I usually have my wife do the bending as I apply the heat. She uses another length of pipe to slide in or over the pipe we are bending to provide more leverage, and to keep her as far away from the heat as possible. She also gets a good pair of leather welding gauntlets. You can make some pretty tight bends without kinks. All of my cars have some pretty severe bends to get up and over the rear axles, and this method works every time. You don't have to fill the tube with anything.
I know this thread is ancient, but. BMW 750s. Tubing is nice and thin SS, 2.25" ID. Used a resonator and some of the tubing on my 2.5 focus project.
2005-2010 Mustangs have 2.5" straight pipe from the catalyst pipe all the way to where it goes over the axle. If anyone has removed the OE exhaust or you find the V6/GT cars in junkyards they have a good amount of tubing available under them.
2010+ Expedition/Navigators have large sections of tubing and at the rear of the later models a nice 2.5" round straight resonator that is ultra compact.
2011+ F150's have a 2.5" straight through resonator in front of the muffler that alot of people remove that can be used. Any of the 2.7/3.5/5.0 trucks have them.
Avalons with the 3.5L have a nice long straight section of 2.5" with a straight resonator. I presume other 3.5L-powered Toyota/Lexus sedans like Camry and ES350 will too.
