I decided a while back that I thought it'd be neat if my car (VW Quantum, think Audi 4000 Quattro as a wagon) could accelerate 60-120 in two seconds. That'd be from highway cruising speed to redline in 5th.
I did some math and it came out to about 1000hp.
That's not not-doable nowadays, although getting the necessarily wide enough powerband to do it in fifth gear is the tricky bit. Wouldn't have time to shift, after all.
